Just days after it finished a 53 year run, As the World Turns has won three awards at the Daytime Emmy Awards.

The soap’s gongs included Best Actor for Michael Park and Best Actress for Maura West (pictured).

“We had to say goodbye to over 60 members of our family on Wednesday,” Park said tearfully, accepting the first Emmy of his career. “It was heartbreaking, and I pray you never have to endure what we endured on Wednesday.… I can’t think of a better way to say goodbye to a 13-year run on a 53-year-old show than this right here. Thank you so much.”

The Bold and the Beautiful won best drama series for a second year in a row.

The Ellen De Generes Show won Best Talk Show (Entertainment) while Dr. Oz won Best Talk Show Host. Ellen had already taken herself out of the running for Host this year.

  1. bold is the most annoying Soap .no wonder the Daytime emmys are not taken seriously.General Hospital or the Young and the Restless deserve to win. Bold is sad to watch or even read about..

  2. I can’t belive that B&B won best soap. I watch it, but the show is so superficial, with characters often having very sketchy motivations for the things they do. Compared to Y&R, that has so many layers and they use their history so well. How do they judge these things?
