Prolific producer John Edwards has renewed his association with Southern Star, signing a long term contract with the production house.
Rory Callaghan, CEO of Southern Star said, “ I am really pleased that John has decided to extend his partnership with us. He’s a creative powerhouse responsible for some of Australia’s best serial drama – Rush, Offspring, Tangle and Spirited. John’s decision to continue here maintains Southern Star’s position as the leading drama producer in the country.”
Edwards said, “It’s been more years than I like to remember and now 470 something hours of drama, but all of it has been fantastic fun. I can’t imagine a place where I’d have such an opportunity to do work that I Iove”.
Edwards, who previously produced Love My Way, Police Rescue, The Secret Life of Us, Dangerous, The Surgeon and Out of the Blue has three productions airing on TEN this year and two on Pay TV.
Rush is expected to return to TEN soon while Offspring has been extended from telemovie to series. Tangle returns to Showcase in July and Spirited airs in August on W.
Amended.

Great!! Delayed long enough!! Thanks David.
David are you saying that W is rescheduling again after your announcment of:
‘It will launch on August 25th on the W channel.’
… These delays are annoying.
Apologies for forgetting the August date for Spirited. Thanks.
Can’t wait for Offspring to air, it sounds like a really exciting drama, with a fresh approach to storytelling, i’m interested to see how it goes on 10 and hoping they stick with it, while it finds it feet on air. Perhaps if it does ok in its first run they could repeat it over summer aswell. I am also loving Neighbours at the moment, i know it is not produced by Southern Star but the storylines are very strong, it would be nice to see it go up in ratings, i am letting friends know it is ok to watch again! Long live Australian drama’s, we really do some of the best storytelling in the world. Please bring back an updated version of Prisoner!!
