New Zealand will get factored out with The X Factor, set to have a local production by FremantleMedia Australia and NZ’s Mediaworks.
NZ also screen both the Australian and US versions of the talent show on TV3.
The news is a win for the Australian branch of FremantleMedia.
CEO Ian Hogg said, “Programs like The X Factor don’t come along every day. It is a global super hit and the chance to bring it to New Zealand is one that excites us and Sony Music very much.”
A New Zealand production will begin in Auckland later this year for a 2011 broadcast.
The Australian series is currently in production for Seven.

““Programs like The X Factor don’t come along every day” Bahahaha!
NZ Got Talent only lasted one season over there. I can’t see X Factory doing any better.
No problem at all – our rugby competitions need more good players!!
@ Madame Tango; and what would be the problem with more kiwis in australia?
How much X Factor is too much (some one say one is too many)! But three versions?? Really? You know we are going to end up with more Kiwis in Australia now!!
