Long summer of cricket coming

Nine's International Summer of Cricket is going to be very long this year, starting as early as October 31st.

If you like cricket it’s good news. If not….. look away now.

Nine’s International Summer of Cricket is going to be very long this year. In fact it will start in Spring, on October 31st.

And it won’t end until February 6th 2011, the very first day of the 2011 ratings survey.

That’s a good deal longer than we are used to.

Nine is currently touting its cricket season to advertisers, remnding them that Australia with “two premium packages that provide an unprecedented opportunity to make a non-sponsor commitment whilst enjoying a number of sponsor-type benefits.”

The First XI and The Clubman Packages include hospitality packages, in addition to a tailored airtime package and guaranteed TVC placement within international cricket matches.

Think that’s early? Not quite. It even has a corporate event for the 2012 Olympics in Sydney this week.

  1. Will be interesting to see the ratings.OK There will be a few angry Daytime Soap Viewers out there but most of them don’t care for cricket.

  2. October, October, October, hmmmm isn’t the IPL having the T20 Champions League series in October 2010 on ONE HD, I love me T20, I’ve seen five games in Australia on telly and 180+/- Indian Premiere League and Champions League games, I’ll be too tired to watch Nine

  3. I loathe the cricket season on 9 with their endless cricket broadcasts as though the existence of the earth depends on it. As usual I will simply tune out for whatever the period is and give the 9 button on the remote a rest.

  4. Cricket Australia website has the fixture which is easy to see. Australia will host Sri Lanka for one Twenty20 match and three one-day games between October 30 and November 7, before taking a two-week break before the Ashes begin. Clever timing on CA’s part by scheduling a one-day game in Melbourne on the day after Melbourne Cup (November 3), trying to lure horse racing fans and overseas visitors to Melbourne Cup Carnival to the cricket.
