Is the end nigh for the Walker Family of Brothers and Sisters?
ABC’ has committed to only 18 episodes.
Rachel Griffiths isn’t sure what that means. “In my negotiation, I asked, ‘does 18 mean it’s the last season?’ I would love to know. I feel like this is the last season, but I don’t know for sure,” she has said.
Combined with the exits of longtime cast members Rob Lowe and Emily VanCamp (recently announced) it has fueled speculation that the show’s fifth season may well be its last.
Executive Producer David Marshall Grant says, “No one has told me that it’s the last season.”
As a result, he isn’t approaching the season as a bookend to the series. “I don’t want to do that. It’s sort of a self-fulfilling prophecy.”
If anything, Grant is hoping the decision to leap forward one year will add years to the show’s life span. “I’m actually looking at this season as a fresh beginning,” he says. “That’s one of the things you can do when you jump a year. I want to put [our characters] in fresh and different places, and hopefully that will have legs.”

Fox did the 22 to 18 with Arrested.
The CW did 22 to 18 to 13 I think was the last season of Veronica Mars.
This is good, accept that they didn’t cancel you out right and wrap it up.
This is an awesome show. Would be nice if Nora found some lasting true love. There are shows like ER that last 14 odd years. Surely the Walkers have some more mileage in them………
So how many shows have now jumped forward in time, we had Desperate, One Tree Hill and now B&S, not to mention given the season final Bones might use the same trick come September.
i’d definately say it is the final season. now that 24 and Lost are gone it is the 2nd most expensive show on american tv (behind DH) and the rating are only ok. the reason for the 18 episodes might be so that they can extend it 4-5 eps to a full season to wind up the series a bit like an ugly betty deal.
plot wise i think it could still go for years before running dry, it’s not like it is a sci-fi. so far it has only gotten better with age.
I hope this isn’t true.

Well Rachel said in an interview earlier on this year said the 5th would probably be the last otherwise they will run out of stories.
I hope not. Brothers & Sisters is a great family show to watch and I for one will miss it once it finishes.
The leap forward worked for Desperate Housewives and for One Tree Hill. Infact OTH did it twice, jumped 4 years, then this season it jumped another one year. Pity it jumped the shark sometime ago though.
I’d rather see it end than to have it fade into something less than it is now.
It probably would be a good time to end it and go out on a high but American series seem to go about two years past their ‘use by’ date.
i dont see why it would be the last season when it rates well in the US and as they say jumping 12 months ahead will see fresh stories.
