Adam Boland in consultancy role for Seven

Seven has struck a deal with Adam Boland that keeps him with Seven as a Consultant, and prevents him from being snapped up by a rival.

Adam Boland will remain with the Channel Seven family as a Consultant when he steps down from his role as Director of Morning Television later this year.

Seven’s Director of News and Public Affairs Peter Meakin revealed the news yesterday in a podcast for trade publication, Mediaweek.

“I’ve just negotiated a new agreement with him,” said Meakin. “He’ll be remaining with Channel Seven, but he will not be Executive Producer of Sunrise anymore. That role will be assumed by someone else. But he won’t be going anywhere, we’ll still have him and his talents on board.

“Essentially it’s a consultancy role and he’ll continue to be involved in Morning Television, and other projects for the network, and he won’t be working for any other network.”

TV Tonight understands while contracts are yet to be signed, the new deal will keep Boland with Seven through 2011 and prevent him from being snapped up by a rival television network.

Boland is believed to be setting up his own production company to develop new projects in light entertainment and factual programming.

He remains Executive Producer of Sunrise until the end of November.

  1. i think 2011 should see 7 try a new late afternoon show with adam boland. not news based like THISafternoon. more an entertainment/variety/chat/comedy/magazine show. maybe promote larry&kylie to a 5:00 slot and let it run between the 4:30 and 6:00 news. i don’t think they should keep deal into 2011. and M*A*S*H after all these years is not doing too well either.
