The History Channel has commissioned a docu-drama to commemorate the canonisation of Mary MacKillop, to take place in Rome on October 17th.
Hosted by Alan Jones, Blessed Mary: A Saint for All Australians will detail the life of Mary MacKillop, from her childhood in Melbourne, to the establishment of a school in Penola, through to her vocation as co-founder of the Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart.
Featuring dramatised scenes of the pivotal moments in Mary’s life, it is also supported by an correspondence to, from and about Mary, including thousands of letters written by Mary herself.
Jones also visits some of the significant places in her life.
Blessed Mary: A Saint for All Australians will have its world premiere on The History Channel on Sunday, October 10 at 7.30pm AEST, and will be released on DVD on October 13 with an interview between Alan Jones and Cardinal Pell.
It is produced by Michael Tear from Bearcage.

A Saint for all Australians?
Give us a break – most of us are not interested in this rubbish.
The History channel? How ridiculous.
This “Miracles by Mary” is fiction, not fact.
Pompous Alan Jones interviewing pompous George Pell. Should be riveting.
