Lost in limbo

Matthew Fox said he hasn't had any negative feedback about the series finale of Lost and that some fans nly cared about answers that can't be answered.

Lost lived up to its title at yesterday’s Emmys failing to win an acknowledgment for its final season. It’s a shame for its last chance the show didn’t get the recognition. Even if there was division on the final episode.

But Matthew Fox claims he hasn’t had any negative feedback about the series finale of Lost.

“I think that the media might have wanted to create a little bit of, like, ‘Well, there’s some people that are dissatisfied with the way it ended’ and they want to make a story out of it. I certainly didn’t feel that in my experience. If there are people out there who are really dissatisfied, at least around me they’re being awfully quiet.”

Fox also suggested that some fans took the show too seriously and would never have enjoyed the finale.

“The thing is, you can’t please all the people all the time,” he said. “We all knew that. There was a certain segment of the audience that really just only cared about answers that can’t be answered. Some of the big questions that the show took on are big, philosophical questions that all of us deal with in our lives. They’re not answerable questions.

“So I think certain members of the audience looked at Lost in a way that might have been more intense than normal, because they felt like there were answers they wanted answered that they couldn’t answer themselves. Those people will probably have to deal with that for most of their lives.”

Fox recently admitted that he has never seen an episode of Lost.

  1. They didn’t have to answer everything, but they should have answered Something. The finale was a weak end to a lazy last season and a huge letdown to many dedicated fans.

  2. He freaking watched the finale on the Jimmy Kimmel show. He said he did. I don’t believe this interview now.

I think half the stuff he said was taken out of context.

  3. I watched and loved every episode of Lost, the writers knew when the series was finishing they could’ve answered a lot more then they actually did it just seems a little bit lazy to me

  4. IMO i is pretty immature to expect every single question to be answered in complete black and white. if that’s what you wanted than the show was not directed to you.

i think the finale was perfect.

  5. While I didn’t mind the ending, I happened to channel surf one evening on a replay of the final episodes of Lost which had annotated screens at the bottom ie they described who the characters were….what was happening etc…to me this explained a lot of the finer points and links with previous seasons/episodes…..does anyone know if these are commercially available?

  6. He probably hates seeing himself on screen like a lot of actors do. As a Lostie I was very satisfied with the finale and knew they couldn’t answer everything in two hours. A bit unrealistic! The fans who took the show too seriously…well they should make up their own minds about the questions that were never answered.

  7. Yeah. Like I was going to write him personally with negative feedback

And yes. That is what I wanted. Answers.

Don’t construct situations unless you can provide answers.

Future reference for producers/directors looking to this as a model
