Home and Away has been slapped by New Zealand’s Broadcasting Standards Authority over a scene deemed too racy for a 5:30pm G rated timeslot.
The authority upheld a complaint about an episode in which characters Liam and Martha (Axle Whitehead and Jodi Gordon) kiss passionately, while Martha’s disrobes to bra and pyjama pants.
The scene, which aired in March was ruled to be “raunchy and sexually charged” and went “well beyond what should be included in a G-rated program.”
The authority ruled that it “did not consider interests of child viewers” and “did not observe standards of good taste and decency”.
Broadcaster TVWorks argued there was no nudity in the scene and “did not contain any salacious content”.
As it was the first time a complaint about sexual content against Home and Away had been upheld no penalty was issued.
On radio former Home and Away actress Jodi Gordon yesterday told Kyle and Jackie O the show was tasteful.
“I did kind of straddle Axle on the kitchen table,” she said cheekily, “but that’s beside the point!
“They were just having a fun relationship.”
In Australia the show has a PG rating at 7pm.

People still watch this dribble!!
You know you’ve crossed a line when New Zealand says no….
Jodi Gordon, again!
They have television over there!?! 😮
Shock, horror! *faints* 😉
@Mr Muldoon – New Zealand is a country of 34 million sheep, 4 million of which think they are people.
Quote; New Zealanders who emigrate to Australia raise the IQ of both countries.
Not our fault the kiwis put a show produced for PG in a G timeslot! They should censor the eps before broadcast. The same will happen with Neighbours next year.
