Seven’s Sydney weathergirl Sara Groen is quitting television to relocate to Melbourne with her partner.

“Sara will be leaving Channel Seven News early next year so she can be with her soon-to-be husband,” a network spokesman confirmed last night.

“They’re getting married in the New Year and that’s when she’ll be making the move. We’ve had ongoing discussions with Sara about this and she’s basically decided to move to Melbourne for love – to be in the same city as her partner.”

Groen, who has also appeared on Today Tonight and It Takes Two began with Seven as co-presenter on Saturday Disney in 2002.

She has not signalled her long-term career plans.

A search to replace her begins today.

  1. What, they don’t have television in Melbourne?

Surely, she is only quitting this particular job. I am presuming she can find something in TV in Melbourne if she wanted to…

  2. Ahhhh I remember the day she replaced Shelley Craft on Saturday Disney in July 2002 (What! I was 14!…), she’s come a long way. Although I do remember reading she was doing her degree and SD at the same time for a number of years.

  3. I enjoy Sarah cumming too.

So the guy is rich then? So sick of reading about these “beauties” on TV who “fall in love” with rich guys, Natalie Gruzlewski, Kelly Landry and now Sara.

  4. Maybe she is out of favour with seven execs?

If she was that valuable, surely they would have given her “special duties” in melbourne? Nine did that with Leila McKinnon when her husband moved to LA to run Granada US.
