Rumour: Amazing Race heads to the Outback

Spoilers: Amazing Race Contestants caught up with an Akubra-wearing Phil Keoghan yesterday.

Spoilers:  After a furious day of sightings of The Amazing Race in Sydney yesterday, US contestants are now headed for the Outback.

All-Star contestants caught up with an Akubra-wearing Phil Keoghan at Shelly Beach only to learn they were mid-way through a double leg, meaning nobody was eliminated.

Fans of the show were posting and tweeting their sightings in online forums and blogs (including on TV Tonight) as favourite contestants were spied at Sydney Airport, Circular Quay, the Harbour Bridge, Tall Ships, Manly Ferry, Oceanworld, and Sydney Town Hall.

As one fan said, “I had followed them from the bridge, where I talked to a security guard who had talked to the teams. But I wasn’t going to give up, since I had not seen any teams. So I worked out the clue myself and then went to Sydney town hall where they were due next.

“I have never seen so many backpacks in my life, as well as water bottled and power drinks. The sound and camera teams were all together sitting/lying on the ground. The teams were standing around or sitting chatting to each other. I took some photos discreetly, then went up to Vyxsin and Margie (mum of deaf Luke) and told them that I hoped they did really well.”

Globetrotters ‘Big Easy’ and ‘Flight Time’ were said to be fishing for information on Rex Airlines.

Teams are understood to be departing today via Rex Airlines at 6am and 6:30am.

  1. They are on the Indian Pacific, heading for Sydney.

If you want to spot the teams, the arrival into Sydney Central is scheduled to arrive tomorrow (Wednesday) at 10.15am

    Enjoy finding the teams!

  2. That’s so exciting that amazing race is visiting Australia again (more specifically Sydney). But I am disappointed with the teams included in the allstars race. Where’s TK & Rachel?

Rather than another ‘allstars’ they should have had a theme, like Survivor’s Heroes vs Villians.

  3. Also heard today that TAR Australia, one team (2 girls I think) were getting out of a helicopter…….4 times. So it seems that TAR is not as go go go as we thought.

  4. Channel 7 made such a fuss last time TAR came to Australia … they marketed it for like the whole season and they didn’t get to australia until one of the last legs of the race. I’m sure they will milk it for all it’s worth again next year!

  5. I can see a programing problem for Channel 7 here. Both Aussie and US seasons should be edited and ready for early next year, but do they show both series at the same time? Or back to back? The fact TAR USA come to Australia would be a great promo for Seven.

  6. Wow, so we expect Season 18 of the first leg a double one. I am hoping that they would show it back-to-back with the Australian version at the traditional time of 7:30 Thursdays. I couldn’t see why some comments from the previous posts that they would not be showing the season, since one episode was shot in Sydney.

  7. @Lewis, i just had the conversation with a friend the other day, it was very unfair on Rob & Amber for that to happen! Bring back Jonathan & Victoria!

  8. The Amazing Race is in Broken Hill NSW (Australia) today. They had to get a clue from the Memorial Oval , dress as Kangaroos with big bouncy shoes and bounce to my street (Mercury Street) for their next clue. Then they were off to the Junction Mine in their Four Wheel Drives. So funny seeing them bounce around dressed as Kangaroos. Does anyone know when this new Season will be aired??

  9. @Vanessa: Couldn’t disagree more. I still firmly believe the producers held up the plane that took them to their final destination in TAR7, which Rob and Amber should have won. And they have already had their second go.

Nice people, but there are others I’d prefer to see go again.

  10. I read about this in Confidental this morning, yet a morning radio show said it was TAR Australia…I’d be pretty pissed if I was a contestant in TAR Australia and hadn’t left the country LOL. Hope TAR Austraia isn’t a fizzer.

Can’t wait for S18! Bring it on.

  11. As I said yesterday, why are there so many teams from Season 14? & of course with margie & luke coming back Kisha and Jen had to return as well after all there is little love lost between those teams they hate each other, if you recall what happen between them in S14.

  12. I had to tell one team when they chased me down (think was daughter and father) where the Manly skiff club was as the boatshed next door had them confused. Singed release, hope not to make the cut as hate sound of own voice!

I think the next challenge was to sail with the local 16ft Skiffs.

  13. Teams are made up of the last few seasons (S?)

    Kynt and Vyxsin (12)
    Ron and Christina (12)
    Amanda and Kris (14)
    Kisha and Jen (14)
    Jaime and Cara (14)
    Margie and Luke (14)
    Mel and Mike (14)
    Steve and Linda (14)
Flight Time and Big Easy (15)
    Zev and Justin (15)
    Jet and Cord (16)
    Gary and Mallory (17)

Can’t wait to see Kynt & Vyxsin race again!!
