Teri Hatcher denies quitting Housewives

"I am awaiting a retraction and apology at the least for mucking up everyone's Sunday with this huge, hurtful lie," says an angry Teri Hatcher.

This story was almost inevitable….

Teri Hatcher has denied reports that she plans to quit Desperate Housewives, after the claims were published by the UK’s Daily Mail.

On her official Facebook page she revealed that she will only leave the show when it is cancelled.

“There are not enough adjectives to describe how stupid, off base, and ridiculously untrue this is,” she said.

“‘Newspapers’ should be accountable for this kind of irresponsible journalism and reckless fabrication of a story. What disturbs me the most is that one fan would consider for one second that I would “quit” what has been one of the highlights of my career for which I am grateful on a daily basis.

“I have never said nor inferred otherwise. They made no effort to contact me or my representatives or the network to fact check. I am awaiting a retraction and apology at the least for mucking up everyone’s Sunday with this huge, hurtful lie.

“I will say it again, I love Desperate Housewives, the cast and crew are like family and I am with it till it’s cancelled.

Hatcher went on to praise the show’s latest addition Vanessa Williams and the writing team.

The Daily Mail published a story in which it quoted an unnamed source claiming Hatcher wanted to quit the show to develop her own series. It was picked up by numerous print and online media.

  1. @Dick, i thought the same thing at first when i read that but perhaps when she said ‘everyone’s Sunday’ i don’t think she meant the ‘world’. I think she meant probably the cast and crew who probably thought it would of been nice to hear it from her if she was leaving rather than hear about it on gossip celeb stories.

Let’s face it, whether you like her or not. She is the main star of that show

  2. I told ya. UK’s Daily Mail. They make up a story and then quote an unnamed source never getting a direct quote or atrributing a quote. David, don’t get your stories from the UK media. You’re better than that.

    1. It was widely reported by Fairfax and News Ltd, but I was very careful about the way I worded the original story, including that it was from a Report while the US was on a sleepy Sunday. Also noted the Daily Mail in the story with very very good reason!
