7PM extends sympathy to Carrie Bickmore

Carrie Bickmore will return to The 7PM Project in February, following the death of her husband Greg Lange.

Carrie Bickmore will take leave from The 7PM Project, following the death of her husband Greg Lange.

Lange lost his decade-long battle with cancer last week.

Last night on the TEN show, Pickering announced she would return to the show in February.

Bickmore’s colleagues have publicly extended their sympathies.

In a statement Charlie Pickering said: “My thoughts are with Carrie and Ollie, and their family, all of whom have been so strong throughout this horribly difficult time.”

Dave Hughes has also said, “Our thoughts are with Carrie and her son at this incredibly sad time for the family.”

TEN recently issued a statement noting, “Carrie and family are extremely thankful for the support, care and consideration they have received during this period, especially the last twelve months.

“Privacy and understanding at this difficult time is appreciated so they may now grieve as a family.”

  1. Very sad news. Condolences go to both families.

Carrie seems to have such a strong personality – coping through all of this and appearing fine on air over the past months. She will be sorely missed for the next month or so off air, here’s hoping she can return after a devastating loss. She is an excellent presenter/host and seems to have such strong passion for her career, would be a shame to see her let it go, but understandable if she wished to pass on the year and get through this tough time with her family, and more importantly, her son, Ollie.

RIP. Once again, thoughts are with Bickmore, family and friends.

  2. Criticism is due when it’s due in professional situations, provided that it’s unrelated to personal issues, i.e. insincere advertising during the Oprah interview.

However, my condolences, it is very sad to hear about such tragic circumstances happening in the personal life.

  3. Makes you think about what Carrie must have been going through in her private life while the rest of Australia was pouring crap on her for the segments she did on Oprah. It’s very easy to forget that television personalities are just ordinary people with real lives…tragedy and all. Also explains the times she’s been missing on 7pm Project over the last few months. She must have been going through her own personal hell! Considering this news, she’s done an absolutely amazing job hiding it on-air.
My sincere sympathy to Carrie and Greg’s family at this very sad time.

  4. People always bag Carrie Bickmore on this site and I hate it. She’s probably my favourite Australian television presenter. My condolences to her and her family, what a horrible tragedy

  5. That’s awful news. I read an article about his battle just after their son was born; a brave battle, awful that it had to end around this time of year with a child as young as theirs. Condolences.

  6. Condolences to Carrie & family, my brother & i lost our beloved mother to cancer nearly 3 years ago & we are still grieving, life was so much better with her, it is a shocking disease.

  7. Just so sad for anyone to cope with
Hope she finds the srength to come back to T V
M thoughts go out to carrie and her family
leys hope rove can help her in her ours of need

  8. My sympathies to you Carrie and your little boy Oliver. You have been such a professional on tv this year and wouldnt have known what you were dealing with behind the scenes.

Greg sounded like a great guy and its a shame that a person so young can lose there soul mate and poor Ollie loses his dad at age 3.

  9. I was so shocked and saddened by this news last night, had not read about her husband’s illness. Like a whack about the head, such a thud. I hope that Carrie takes longer than a mere few weeks, to grieve and begin this next stage of her life. I guess work will be something of a distraction, and a requirement for her – but not an easy gig to walk back into – live, panel, comedic slant and so many provocative issues often on the table – and as i said – live! I wish her strength and heart in placing one foot in frront of another.
