ELEVEN tops Tuesday’s digital

Just a week after its launch, ELEVEN hits the front of the digital channel pack.

Just a week after its launch, ELEVEN hits the front of the digital channel pack.

On Tuesday night it pulled a share of 4.5% ahead of GO! and 7mate both on 4.3%. It wasn’t the biggest share for the channel yet (Monday night was 5.7%) but it was the first time it landed ahead of the rest.

Neighbours was its top rating show on 319,000.

But it was Seven that ruled Tuesday night with a big network share of 37.4%. Seven’s Australian Open Hewitt v Nalbandian match averaged 984,000 but that was across its marathon session that ended at 1.10am.

Seven’s primary channel share, which was 10% more than Nine, shows it still hogged the viewers for the night.

  1. I think this will probably make them have a serious rethink about their other digital channel One. Maybe they’ll dump it for another entertainment channel that might grab a bigger audience like a movie channel or older skewing channel.

  2. And who was surprised? Really? They’ve loaded all their best shows onto Eleven, and kept redundant, bland shows like Bondi Vets and Oprah Episodes…

If Eleven can keep airring new content, it WILL beat out TEN.

  3. The only thing i hate about go is Cheers/Rosanne/Sabrina/Mork and Mindy being on so late, my GF loves them and consequently i haven’t been getting to sleep till 2am most nights since she discovered it.

  4. 7 and 9 paved the way with GO!, 7Two, 7Mate and GEM. They have been getting higher than expected numbers for over a year now so lets not get too excited about 11. They are all similar in programming and give viewers choice. You all love to love Ten, that’s clear. What is clear, is that 11 is taking 10’s audience away, rather than adding to it

  5. Well done to TEN. This channel is a breath of fresh air amongst the digital channels and it sure beats GO! and its endless amount of schedule changing most of which end up repeats. I think it will grow and become our favourite digital channel over time if TEN program it right. If they start siphoning the repeats in then things could start to deteriorate.

  6. @ Anthony…You forgot All New Simpsons, Futurama, Smallville, Supernatural…
If it weren’t for Weeds on Gem, I’ve watched more 11 than 7TWO(aka 7OldBritishTV) and GEM combined since their launch!

  7. Well done 11, this channel has been put together and launch very well and professionally. I have iQ’d Nurse Jackie, enjoyed a few Macgyver eps, Craig Furguson and if I am at home getting dinner ready and no one is home yet to take over the TV I have enjoyed Family Ties on 11 followed by Friends on Gem.

Haven’t been home much since the launch (stuck at work) and forgot about Smallville so thanks @angelsgal for the reminder.

  8. @dave yeah I thought it was interesting that 7 did the promo crawl for the big tennis match on both 7TWO and 7mate last night. Seems they really wanted to pump up the ratings on the tennis. I may not be happy if I was an advertiser on the digital channels but for all we know 7 may be giving these spots away for nothing or very little at the moment.

  9. Dave, I agree about the Seven scrawl, really annoying, however 7mate also suffered, until at least 12:30 am. I hope they don’t do that in future.

I also agree with Dave, nothing on it really interests me at all and I’m at a loss as to explain why the channel is so popular. I didn’t think Stargate, Mork & Mindy or the Love Boat would do it for people.

  10. Nothing on ELEVEN had lured me to it, other than The Simpsons, so far! And if it weren’t for this great site, i wouldn’t have known when the new eps were on.
Off the topic sort of – i really disliked 7two’s crawl that ran across the screen several times during To the Manor Born about the ‘grudge match’ over on 7. What do they want us to do abandon one channel for another? Intrusive and silly.

  11. Yay for 11. With the exception of the 6pm Simpsons, Sundays Modern Family/Simposns repeat (have no interest in next top model) and SVU repeat on Thursday (as I dont watch Stargate) I litterly havent had my TV off 11. My mum and I were especially excited about the Smallville double on Sunday and Supernatural on Mondays and of course I can never get enough Simpson’s and Futurama (which is probably my favourite animated comedy)

  12. Well didn’t take ELEVEN very long, did it?

The guy over at 9 (forget his name now) said they wanted GO! to get 2.5 in the first year, didnt they? Looks like ELEVEN’s launch (note I said launch) has been far more successful than GO!
