New NRL show for ONE

NSW State of Origin Coach Ricky Stuart joins the panel of ONE's new NRL panel show, One Week At A Time.

ONE HD has announced a new NRL panel show, One Week At A Time, to be hosted by Adam Hawse.

Due to air at 9.30pm Mondays in Sydney and Brisbane (10.30pm in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth), the show will feature NSW State of Origin Coach Ricky Stuart as part of its panel.

Stuart was NSW Origin Coach when the Blues last won the title in 2005 and has also successfully coached the Australia Kangaroos and in 2002 delivered the Sydney Roosters their first premiership victory in 28 years.

The show will hear from coaches, administrators, players, plus offer a full wrap-up of the weekend’s games.

TEN’s General Manager: Sport, David White said: “It is a real coup for us to have secured someone of Ricky’s calibre and reputation. He is undoubtedly one of NRL’s finest and cements our commitment to delivering contemporary, informative and credible programs to sport fans.

Ricky Stuart said: “I’m really looking forward to balancing my coaching duties with this exciting television opportunity.”

“The program will provide valuable exposure for our game nationally at a time when there is so much competition among the major football codes.”

One Week At A Time will premiere on ONE HD on Monday, March 14.

  1. @ Michael Network Ten should not pull the plug on ONE HD because its a channel with a lot of potential. Just because it is not blowing other channels out of the water it doesn’t mean it should be axed. The channel needs time to grow and it needs time to acquire better sports. Such as NRL, ATP Tennis Grand Slam Tennis Tournaments, EPL etc. When that happens it will kick FOX Sports to the curb. It will also be winner to Network Ten and Ten will be number 1 you will see. All good things take time. As for the new NRL show on ONE HD i will give it a go but i feel that this will really disapoint the AFL fans in the traditional NRL states. I think the AFL version of One Week At A Time should be on Monday Nights Nationwide and the NRL version on Tuesday Nights Nationwide, so that every fan of both codes can see it at a reasonable time.

  2. Michael, because it’s making them a tidy sum of money, and this is the whole objective of the business (though 7 and 9 think the objective is to be #1). Remember that share only covers primetime, and the vast majority of live sport is on outside primetime, and therefore not reflected in “daily” share. The channel is more successful than the figures would appear. Same goes for 10’s daytime line-up – nothing on before 6pm adds anything to share figures.

  3. Dunno what it is with AFL types thinking they have a mortgage on every term.

I remember them objecting to the Sydney Kings using the term ‘threepeat’ in the basketball a few years ago because they claimed that term belonged to the Brisbane Lions.

Didn’t ever occur to the AFL that Americans had been using that term for many years.

This article gives you an idea as to how they think they own everything

  4. I fail to see how ‘One week at a time’ is an AFL term. It’s a general sports term that is used in many sports around the world and is one of the most overused sporting cliches there is.
Sometimes I wish people would realise there are more sports in the world than what is popular in their city/state/region/country.

As for the show, it should do ok as by and large ONE hasn’t really done much to try and lure the League crowd to watch them and if they can get more people watching then it can only be a good thing for them.

Agree on Ricky Stuart though, he can be brutal sometimes! 🙂

  5. lol, u can see they really put a lot of effort into this one. using an AFL term, and the same title as their AFL talk show. well, if it’s as good as the AFL equivalent, then it’ll work, but based on the name, they don’t seem to care too much about this one.

  6. @ Michael…..Unlike the other commercial Digital Channels at least 10 have the balls to put on something different instead of the same old repeated crap over and over and over every day.

  7. why won’t Ten just pull the pulg on ONE, its share is bringing down the network, they should replace it with another channel like Eleven and air the sport on weekends

  8. Ricky may have been a great player and coach, but he is painfully awkward in front of the camera and has a reputation for being abrupt and rude. So this will either make for amazing television or a horrible train crash.
