Hamish & Andy have confirmed a two year television deal with the Nine Network.
The comedy paid announced the deal between their production company, Radio Karate and Nine on their radio show.
So far there are no details on how many shows they are committed to nor the format.
“We don’t really know what the show will be yet, but we are super excited that Channel Nine will press play on the VCR, as we’ve decided to stick with VHS as our format of choice. The fact that the Nine Network has the London Olympics next year was a big draw card, mainly because we might score a couple of free tickets to see the Latvian synchronized swimming team,” they said.
The deal also avoids confirming a fee rumoured to be between $15 – $17m.
“Unfortunately for us the figures reported in the paper were way off, but the fact Channel Nine has agreed to foot the bill for our next adventure is great.
Nine’s Director of Television, Michael Healy said, “We’re really excited about the boys joining Channel Nine. They’re great guys and a great fit with Nine’s plans for 2011.”
The duo have pulled good ratings with their specials on TEN, including the Caravan of Courage series. Earlier productions including Real Stories were less successful, but produced before attracting a following on radio. Their earliest work includes a short-lived Hamish and Andy series on Seven.
Snaring the team is a coup for Nine as it continues its 2011 campaign in comedy and entertainment.
Amended.

Hey Daniel – are you sure you’re not actually Ben Elton, and a bit jealous?
No one watches Nine, so this will fail for them big time. Could be the beginning of the end for them. No one seems to watch Ten either, but those that do like Hamish & Andy.
I think we have to remember that Hamish & Andy were able to create their radio show their way despite being on FOX FM, the most god-awful of all the radio stations. If they can survive the FOX, there’s hope for them at Nine.
Still, it’s a shame they’re not with Ten.
Why…These people are funny. Chris, regular viewers of ten didn’t migrate to ten to watch these two
2 years? their show won’t last that long on 9!
Rove didn’t work on Nine, can the boys?
This is gonna end in tears … but not mine.
Perhaps they’ll do a Roy & HG type show during the Olympics next year.
they obviously went for the highest bidder
I love listening to their radio show but I won’t watch their specials on Nine.
These guys and nine can’t expect to keep selling the same brand, as working class man/boys, now they’re millionaires. They can’t have it both ways, it just doesn’t work like that. The viewers will reject them, so 10 has dodged a bullet.
Boycott!!! Boycott!!!
7pm weeknights.
This will not work out.
Hey Hey fans have spoken.
Good on them. At the end of the day it’s business and they’re entitled to a big pay day because they bring in big numbers.
This will work just as well as that Merrick and Rosso crap that was on Ten five-six year ago.
I smell a flop
Shut Up Guys!!! man your all annoying as Hell!!!! You guys never stop talking about how bad channel 9 is. And trust me they will Go good!! and they will eventually be back as the #1 channel and i can’t wait until that happens because i for sure will laugh! at all of you people Hahahahaha!!!! Just wait and see hahah!!
Point 1. They have tried a show before (other than the specials) – Failed
Point 2. If they are getting paid that much – Not worth it.
Small mistake…their previous TV series was ‘Real Stories’ not ‘Real Life’!
No! I love them but they are such a better fit to channel 10, or even ABC, they could probably get a loyal fan base on ABC. Channel 9 will just ruin them like always, I never trust nine with any of the shows I might potentially watch.
Maybe Nine got the two men and Two and a Half Men confused.
I give them 3 episodes.
I am not convinced that viewers from Ten will migrate over to watch them on Nine.
I can’t remember the last time Nine has launched a successful comedy project.
Everyone is dreaming if they think this will work out well.
sad that it’s not on ten, but happy to see theyre doing something!
