Colin Lane new host of Ready Steady Cook

First it's The Circle, now comedian Colin Lane expands his presenting portfolio replacing Peter Everett on Ready Steady Cook.

Colin Lane has been announced as the new host of TEN’s Ready Steady Cook series.

The longtime comedy partner of Frank Woodley has most recently been a guest co-host on The Circle, filling in for Gorgi Coghlan who is on maternity leave.

“Having accepted the role of host I have only just realised that my job now involves eating incredible food every day” says Lane.

“I am very excited at the prospect of enjoying and learning about food and I’m looking forward to working with so many wonderful chefs and guests. This could be the best job in the world. Or, this could be the greatest increase in weight ever seen on TV. My 2011 television career might start with The Circle, lead into Ready Steady Cook and end with The Biggest Loser.”

Virginia Hodgson, executive producer, Southern Star Entertainment added, “Having Colin at the helm of Ready Steady Cook promises lots of fun and a bit of craziness in the kitchen along with great cooking and tips from Australia’s best chefs.”

Former host Peter Everett hosted Ready Steady Cook for five years, including landing a Logie nomination for the show -a rarity for a daytime series.

A TEN Spokesperson recently told TV Tonight the departure of Everett was a mutual decision, but another media report later noted the first he had heard of it was after learning of auditions behind the scenes.

Maria Michael, Executive Producer of Entertainment at TEN today said in a statement, “We wish Peter the best of luck with all his new adventures; he has been a great host over the years and has brought many new fans to the show. Colin is a wonderful addition to the Ready Steady Cook team, bringing a style and lightness to the show that is perfect for the year ahead.”

Lane begins filming in April and his first episode will air in mid-June.

  1. Shame shame shame! Peter was doing a fantastic job. So enthusiastic about food and cooking – and his personality was loveable on the TV. What was Channel 10 thinking? Did they really think they could revamp an already successful show? Who are they trying to entice to watch the show? Honestly Colin will not create any more viewers than Peter – be realistic and think about your market age group Channel 10. Nice slap in the face to Peter!!!!

  2. Today’s show american cheer squad, passports in shoes. Colin doing a cheer chant. Where has the cooking gone. The chefs must hate it you will be lucky to have any of them resign, what a shame the chefs are great. Peter come back.

  3. I miss Peter Everett. I had been a long time viewer but don’t watch it anymore since Peter’s exit. Bring back Peter Everett.
The show’s not the same anymore. Like someone else said, what about Janelle Bloome as host if Peter really can’t. Lane is not as good!

  4. Just would like to point out one of the episodes last week where Colin asks Janelle Bloom what’s the capital of Czechoslovakia!Just to let you know Czechoslovakia hasn’t been called Czechoslovakia since 1993(it’s Czech Republic and Slovakia and they each have their own capital now) so please next time when you’re trying to be funny make sure you know what you’re talking about.
I agree with all those people above,Colin doesn’t fit this show. All he says is : Lovely, I see and Yes.Peter wasn’t a chef but knew fair bit about cooking.
Sometimes Colin seems like he has no idea what to say.

  5. Brilliant idea by one of the recent posts to have Janelle Bloom host the show. She has sooo many fantastic tips to aid cooking. I’d watch just to see her go from chef to chef sharing her knowledge of produce used that day with viewers. Colin looks uncomfortable and his style of hosting is incredibly bland. He also fails in his attempt to show interest in guests.
PS: I like many others miss Peter Everett

  6. this show is ridiculous, since peter left i cant stand to watch it anymore. Colin is boring has no personality and says ah so many times ive lost count. Chanel 10 what on earth were you thinking? I will no longer watch this show. What happened to Peter? He made that show, bring him back.

  7. Peter Everett was rude. Colin Lane is not funny, just an idiot. It is embarassing for Australian Tv shows that ten can not get a good host. Suggestion, why not ask a chef like Janelle Bloom to host the show. At least they know what they are talking about and won’t be constantly in the way of the chefs cooking. Surely you can do better. Very disappointed viewer. By the way Peter and Colin are not funny.

  8. Just googled to find out why Peter isn’t back yet to find out that he won’t be back;((((( I loved him – he was so cute, bubbly, funny and great to watch…. Colin isn’t the right fit for this show. He looks uncomfortable, also! Bring back Peter!!!

  9. Bring back Peter he was so good and bought some fun to the show. The new guy is so boring we and many friends no longer watch. Go Peter we miss you !!!!

  10. When Ready Steady Cook is mentioned many people think of Peter Everett!!!…..both should be not mutually exclusive!!!!

    the new host is alright—-“alright”
    peter was great! ——“great”

we miss u peter, plsssssss come back!

  11. Like a lot of others, we wondered ‘where Pete was’ so googled and shocked to find Peter was sacked. His daggy humour made the show and no offense to Colin but the show has lost it – now just another cooking show and boring !

  12. I thought Peter Everett was on holidays. What a bad move by Ten if they changed the host.
I can only hope Peter wanted a break or has a much better offer but I cannot believe he would have left without saying bye to his fans.
Such a genuine nice guy like Peter is hard to find in a sea of snake oil salesmen.
    .
My wife and I are still hoping Ten will see the error of their ways. What a short memory Ten has, didn’t he get Ready Steady Cook an award for a daytime show which is normally unheard of.
If Peter Everett gets picked up by another network it’s a given that we will follow him over there.

  13. Ready Steady Cook is just plain boring without Peter. He was daggy and sometimes in appropriate but had a genuine warmth that Colin Lane lacks. I thought maybe Colin would add some humour and whit but really he is very boring …. I’ve given it a go …. now I’m gone.

  14. I can’t believe Peter got the sack! How can channel 10 think Colin is better, Peter was so witty, warm and goofy in a nice way. He certainly made me crack up with laughter, a real feel good person. Bring him back and I will watch the show again.

  15. To all who promise not to watch the show now that Colin has taken over. You Must turn over to any other channel so the producers do get the message that they have lost viewers. Nothing will change if people don’t make a stand. So turn the show Off if you are passionate about this change.

  16. We didn’t like the show before Peter started hosting, since than we have watched as ofter as we could, he was warm and open also funny which is what we all need at that time of the day. We have now switched off and more often than not miss Judge Judy as well.

  17. I hate to repeat the sentement …but Please bring back Peter. He was a bright spot in my afternoons. Thanks for your gracing our screen with a little humour and great style!
