Colin Lane new host of Ready Steady Cook

First it's The Circle, now comedian Colin Lane expands his presenting portfolio replacing Peter Everett on Ready Steady Cook.

Colin Lane has been announced as the new host of TEN’s Ready Steady Cook series.

The longtime comedy partner of Frank Woodley has most recently been a guest co-host on The Circle, filling in for Gorgi Coghlan who is on maternity leave.

“Having accepted the role of host I have only just realised that my job now involves eating incredible food every day” says Lane.

“I am very excited at the prospect of enjoying and learning about food and I’m looking forward to working with so many wonderful chefs and guests. This could be the best job in the world. Or, this could be the greatest increase in weight ever seen on TV. My 2011 television career might start with The Circle, lead into Ready Steady Cook and end with The Biggest Loser.”

Virginia Hodgson, executive producer, Southern Star Entertainment added, “Having Colin at the helm of Ready Steady Cook promises lots of fun and a bit of craziness in the kitchen along with great cooking and tips from Australia’s best chefs.”

Former host Peter Everett hosted Ready Steady Cook for five years, including landing a Logie nomination for the show -a rarity for a daytime series.

A TEN Spokesperson recently told TV Tonight the departure of Everett was a mutual decision, but another media report later noted the first he had heard of it was after learning of auditions behind the scenes.

Maria Michael, Executive Producer of Entertainment at TEN today said in a statement, “We wish Peter the best of luck with all his new adventures; he has been a great host over the years and has brought many new fans to the show. Colin is a wonderful addition to the Ready Steady Cook team, bringing a style and lightness to the show that is perfect for the year ahead.”

Lane begins filming in April and his first episode will air in mid-June.

  1. Like all the other replies I have read, I also miss Peter. He had a nice, funny natural style, and hopefully will be back on the screen soon enough. I no longer enjoy the show for its entertainment factor. The cooking is fine, but an hour long show without a ‘genuine’ entertaining host is just not worth watching.

Good luck Peter, wherever you are. 🙂

  2. What a mistake to take Peter off and replace him with someone who couldn’t even make it on his own without Frank Woodley!!!!! The show just doesn’t have that certain something it had when Peter was the front man for it. He could even cook !!!!
Please bring him back so we can get rid of the jack ass that replaced him.

  3. What were they thinking? New presenter has the personality of a dead fish. Won’t be watching and I know of many others who say the same thing. They killed it.

  4. I was a great fan of RSC when Peter Everett hosted the show. I wont watch it now as Colin Lane is not at all funny and tries to always be in front of the cameras. He also need to purchase a Deoderant that is a good brand. I tuned in the other day and when he put up his arms he was all sweaty and what a horrible look when you are around food.Maybe Peter should return he really made the show

  5. Reiterating previous comment! Attempted to watch ‘Ready Steady Cook’ a number of times during a break from study, and just not as watchable without Peter Everett. Many others I’ve spoken to agree. Don’t know the ins and outs of Pete’s ousting, but wish you would bring him back. Nothing against the present host, but miss Peter.

  6. I decided to google “ready steady cook” and Peter Everett …
So this is how I find out that Peter is no longer with the program?
I had no idea that he had been sacked! (Thought he must have been on holidays)
    Big mistake …
    I miss Peter
    Bring him back!

  7. Joke! we were told that Peter E left of his own accord but wow…Spin!!!!…replaced by Col the least funny guy from that duo, probably a nice guy but not PE ….Don’t watch anymore, don’t see the commercials or the product placements either……thanks but you should have sacked the Pfffft producer instead! Peter was a natural he was a hoot!…….see ya’s.

  8. Peter was sooo funny! Colin is boring!! every cooking show is now the same, some boring person explaining whats going on, not making jokes as well like peter. u lost me as a viewer channel 10!

  9. My 10 year old daughter and I have just tuned in to R.S.C for our holiday catch up.
We were not fussed by the new host and so I took to the net for some research. Devastated to find out that this replacement is permanent! What a bland and boring host in comparison to Peter, who brought a charming comical approach to the show. Channel 10 – you really must do more audience research before stripping away the best thing your show had. It is only time to change when the audience is crying out for it, and in this case, I seriously doubt they were!

  10. What the hell were you thinking Channel Ten !!!! You have lost the one thing that made a fine cooking show so much finer than the others. You lost the one thing that gave the show the ambience and warmth and fun that made it such a pleasure to watch and to look forward to each day. What you have now is just a fine show which are a dime a dozen. I for one don’t like the atmosphere (none) and the awkwardness (not natural charm) and the not funny charm (none) of the new host ,so, I guess you can add me (and my extended family I might add) to the long list of ex RSC fans who will now not be watching your show……Big mistake Channel Ten, Huge mistake channel ten !!!!!!!!

  11. I have read all of the above, and I am amazed that there was not one nice thing said about Colin.
Could be Channel Ten Execs have stuffed up on this one, there is a lot of product placement in this show in fact it is one long advert.
if everyone above complained to the sponsors, Ten may wake up and save the show from an unpopular demise.
    Griswald!

  12. Never thought I would be writing comments about a damn cooking show host but….I watch it every weekday and although I could not stand Everett at first, he grew on me. Colin Whatever is as bland as a piece of calamari and seems to have about as much personality as one. Drab, drab , drab… Television executives always stuff up shows like this in the endless quest for ever more ratings.
I do not watch “Ready, Steady, Cook…” any more.

  13. It’s Monday the 26th of September looking at this weeks shows. Guess what still showing last weeks episodes. This is not Colin’s fault. Get your act together Ten.

  14. It’s the middle of the show and Colin is apparently under the impression he is entertaining us with his dance. He says he doesn’t know why but has to dance. Sooooo irritating, not entertaining and again irritating. I’m now particular with which shows I watch, If Janelle Bloom is on – I tune in otherwise I’m outta there.
Oh gosh, ad break’s over and he’s back not entertaining the audience with more creepy banter. Grrrr Irritating host!!

  15. Colin should have never parted ways with frank wood!
Colins no good without a partner, and as host of Ready Steady Cook, boy does’nt it show it? Please bring back Peter ASAP or your show is dead!

    Carl…

  16. What is going on with the transmission on ready steady cook? Yesterday and today ,only 10. No other channel. We miss half the show not only are we putting with Colin. we cannot follow the chefs.

  17. Bring Peter Everett back can’t stand the new airy fairy guy. (always trying to catch a glimpse of himself.
Also carries on with Too much jibbering, likes to hear himself talk

Good luck Peter hope you pop up again soon. Not the same without you
    But then thats ten…………………………

  18. I used to love watching Ready Steady Cook with Peter Everett. I am no longer intereseted and will no longer turn on the show unless Peter returns. It is a great cooking show with him. So you have lost another fan as per above. No offence to Colin.
