Dieter Brummer in Neighbours role

Former Summer Bay resident Dieter Brummer lands a 6 week role in Erinsborough.

Longtime soapie fans will remember the publicity that Home and Away got when it snared Neighbours‘ very own Craig MacLachlan.

Those were the days…. working alongside Julian MacMahon and a bunch of classic Summer Bay faces.

Now Neighbours has landed Dieter Brummer for a six week guest role as Captain Troy Miller, ex-boyfriend of Eve Morey’s character, Sonya Mitchell. It’s not the first time a Summer Bay graduate has switched to Erinsborough, but in soapie talk it’s one of the more profile castings.

If they are smart the parties will make this a permanent gig. UK soapie fans will be very keen to watch Brummer, who was arguably second only to Jason Donovan in soapie idol ranks. You could have eaten breakfast off those abs, they were snapped in every TV mag during his reign. Later, all they could write about was his window-washing career.

Brummer, now 34, has more recently been seen in Underbelly (and interviewed by TV Tonight here) where he was actually very good. Even better than in Celebrity Circus.

  1. Ah, TM – pipped me.
He was brilliant in Review with Myles Barlow – hopefully he can militarise Ramsey St as quickly as he did Myles’ compound. Neighbours needs some anarchy.

  2. Dieter is such an underrated actor. He was outstanding in Underbelly, alongside Emma Booth and Paul Tassone. The three of them were highlights for me (Firass Dirani was terrible).

I hope he gets back into acting now. I know he was a steady job but it would be nice to see him on our screens more often.

  3. I remember back in the day when he was big with Melissa George on Home & Away and now to be getting back into a somewhat similar show again is rather interesting.

Oh and wow.. I guess he could he could be coming into the show as Callum’s dad. Would be good to see how it plays out if so and if his stay gets extended.
