Eurovision 2011: 2 months and counting

As Eurovision 2011 draws nearer, yesterday particpants were awarded their places in the two Semi-Finals.

It’s now less than two months to go before Eurovision 2011.

The theme for 2011 is “Feel Your Heart Beat”. The Final takes place at Düsseldorf Arena in Germany on May 14th.

This year’s event sees the return of Italy to the contest, joining as one of the Big Five (previously the Big Four) nations that are guaranteed a place due to being a major funder of the budget. Italy hasn’t participated since 1997.

Also returning are Austria, Hungary and San Marino.

Last year’s winner Lena will again represent Germany, while Israel is sending back 1998 transgender winner Dana International.

Appearing for the UK is boyband Blue (they just never learn!).

  1. Brilliant! Maybe Blue doing this is like some James-Franco-in-General-Hospital performance art experiment? After all, Duncan from Blue was happy to send himself up senseless, playing “Duncan From Blue”, in the Channel 4 series “Plus One”. Did that ever get shown here? First two minutes of this clip from it are pretty funny.

  2. I stake my vast fortune that Eric Saade for Sweden will win. I have been watching Melodifestivalen and not only is he insanely gorgeous but the song is a real boon.

  3. the UK entry this year isnt so bad actually, the only problem is there are lots of up tempo pop songs this year, so it kind of gets lost amongst them. The Israeli entry by former winner Dana International is bloody awful. The Swedish song is the ultimate Euro pop song and if the French guy can pull off a good vocal performance on the night, it will be amazing! Anyway, I love Eurovision, so I cant wait!
