Returning: MasterChef Australia

MasterChef is back from Sunday May 1st -now looming as a major battle with the Logies.

TEN has confirmed MasterChef Australia will return to television on Sunday May 1st – the same day as the Logie Awards.

That will make for a big battle.

So far TEN is yet to confirm the time of the show’s launch, but Nine will no doubt be pushing it’s Red Carpet Arrivals, which are usually a high-rater, ahead of the main event.

  1. @carta – you are right! Logies should be respected as a time for all in TV to celebrate and be celebrated.
Not shove more Materchef tripe down our throats.

  2. It’s disappointing that Network TEN feels the need to air something that will take viewers away from The Logies. All three commercial networks have aired the telecast and it celebrates the achievements of stars and shows from each of the networks. What TEN is doing is implying that they don’t want the audience to celebrate their success – they just want them to keep watching their network. I know most people who post here loathe The Logies and find them irrelevant, but it’s still “television’s night of nights”, and since all of the major networks have nominees, it would be nice to see them supporting those who have worked hard and struck a chord with the general public. Do the US networks actively try to lure viewers away from The Emmys?

  3. Going to be an interesting night.
I agree with garry – it’s going to be interesting to see if MC can match MKR production values – and of course the strength of their charcters and storylines.
MC really feels superficial in comparrison to My Kitchen Rules.

  4. Yes!!!! I’ll certainly be watching MC rather than the Logies.

@Tony H, so you’re saying Manu is a “fake French chef”? That only chefs residing in France can be true French chefs? That is the biggest load of do-do (merde in French) that I’ve ever heard. By your logic, chefs of a particular country’s cuisine who live outside their country of origin are fakes, so only true Chinese chefs live in China, true Italian chefs live in Italy, etc. Manu trained as a chef in France, operates a French restaurant in Sydney and is a three-hat chef, the highest cooking accolade you can get in this country. He’s about as far removed from being a cooking lightweight as you can get. Put the fanboi stuff aside for a second and give credit where it is due.

  5. @Garry are you serious about MC being a substandar production? That’s the biggest joke I’ve seen! MC has a brilliant standard of production. I don’t know if your just a seen fan boy but I enjoy my kitchen rules too but the quality of MKR compared to MC is not the same.

  6. I just hope Ten don’t do what they did to the biggest loser and not have it mon and tue!! Because there is so much interest in it and it would rate well anyway 6 nights a week they should leave it at 6 nights.
I miss the biggest loser on mon and tue, it should have been sun – thur and leave out fri and sat.

  7. I’m pretty sure Masterchef was up against the Logies last year, and I think the Logies came out on top. Masterchef will drop off a bit this year, some people who have watched MKR may not be able to go back to sub-standard production quality.

  8. I won’t watch the red carpet arrivals it irks me. Don’t know why. I will watch the presentation and tape MC. Good for you 10 go ahead and put your show on whenever you want to.

  9. Yay Yay Yay!!! Soooo can’t wait!! Best produced and hosted show out there. I’m not expecting as big ratings this season with 11 now on offer and more people watching digitals but if it grows it will indeed be a complete success again.

  10. Glad to see MC return. Haven’t bothered with My Ripoff Rules as I’ve seen plenty of “Come Dine with Me’ and UK Masterchef on Foxtel. Why watch a fake French Chef here when you can get a real one elsewhere (real, as in a chef in France). And in anticipation of the indignant I ‘heart’ MKR fans – go suck on a saveloy (savleu in French).

  11. Awesome news!!! Ten have nothing to worry about regarding The Logies. I hope they stick with their Sunday – Friday lineup. As I mentioned in the Lounge, I hope MKR and CK haven’t affected Masterchef’s popularity and hope TT and ACA don’t do those ridiculous stories about supposed ‘controversies’ regarding the show as they usually do that really annoy me.

  12. i doubt the numbers will be dented by the logies. i am looking forward to this season. i just hope they put more emphasis on cooking. not on what a nut is
