Zsa Zsa Gabor refuses second amputation

Veteran Hollywood star Zsa Zsa Gabor only has "a 50-50 chance" unless she agrees to major surgery.

Veteran Hollywood star Zsa Zsa Gabor is declining doctor’s orders and refusing to have a second leg amputation.

The 94-year-old actress was admitted to hospital on Wednesday after blood flow to her left leg suddenly stopped. Most of her right leg was amputated in January because of gangrene.

Gabor’s husband, Frederic Prinz von Anhalt, says the actress is taking medication and has “a 50-50 chance” of surviving for another year without surgery.

Gabor has been hospitalised repeatedly since July, when she broke her hip falling from bed. Publicist John Blanchette says Gabor will be released from the hospital on Friday.

The Hungarian-born beauty, sister of the late Eva Gabor (Green Acres), has appeared in more than 30 movies, and made several appearances on radio and television shows, predominantly in the 1950s and 1960s.

Her most recent TV role was in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air in 1991.

  1. The whole Fresh Prince thing is worth a discussion, just not here its the wrong topic for that.

This must be very difficult for her family, I can’t imagine what that’s like, simply terrible I would guess.

  2. Nine still has the rights to Fresh Prince as I saw it on tv a couple of months ago when the cricket was finished early due to the weather. Nine should really put Fresh Prince on GO! as it’s like a perfect match the the whole youth-orientated thing.

  3. well said mate.. well said:

You can only imagine the emotional turmoil or an elderly lady, famed for being the embodiment of glamour now faced with losing her body bit by bit. I feel for the old duck.
