Fingers crossed there are no audio problems on this one.

We’ve had Tim Minchin and now ABC2 Live Presents will bring us a live performance of Eddie Perfect and the Brodsky Quartet from at the South Melbourne Town Hall.

Perfect live up to his name (yes, it’s his real name) with a string of original songs, several of which have featured in Offspring.

This broadcast is in addition to Artscape: Middle of the World: Eddie Perfect (Tuesday April 12 at 10pm, ABC1) where as he researches and composes Songs from the Middle.

Hosted by Myf Warhurst , ABC2 LIVE presents Eddie Perfect and Songs From The Middle performed at the South Melbourne Town Hall as part of the inaugural Melbourne Cabaret Festival.

For the performance, Perfect is supported by renowned British string group the Brodsky Quartet who have performed with some of the world’s most popular artists, including Bjork, Elvis Costello and Paul McCartney. Joining Perfect and the Quartet on stage are students from the Australian National Academy of Music, Australia’s premiere training institution for young, talented classical musicians.

Perfect is one of Australia’s most successful entertainers. A comedian, actor and musician, he is famous for his unique style of musical comedy and his satirical commentary on Australian politics, culture and society.

In Songs from the Middle, Perfect takes on material of a more personal nature the places and memories of his youth. Having recently become a father, Perfect revisits the sleepy, seaside suburb of Mentone, Melbourne where he grew up and, with hilarious insight, begins to understand the importance of the places of our childhood.

Songs from the Middle is a touching, insightful and riotously funny song cycle that shows Eddie Perfect at his best.

It airs 8pm Sunday April 17 on ABC2.

  1. I hadn’t seen much material from this guy until the comedy festival the other night on ten which i found really entertaining so am looking forward to this special. If channel 9 were smart they would have hired this guy to do a show instead of the pathetic attempt at entertainment that was Live from Planet Earth with Ben Elton, who knows though, maybe they’ve asked him & he declined, i know i would.
