TEN has confirmed controversial News Limited columnist Andrew Bolt will front a new talk-format The Bolt Report on Sunday mornings.

TEN has confirmed controversial News Limited columnist Andrew Bolt will front a new talk-format The Bolt Report on Sunday morning from May 8th.

The show will air at 10am.

Bolt has been a regular on ABC’s Insiders for ten years, but he won’t go head to head with the Barrie Cassidy-hosted show which airs for an hour at 9am.

Meet the Press will move to 10:30am. The Paul Biongiorno-hosted show currently airs at 8am.

Bolt has also been an occasional panellist on The 7PM Project and Q & A where his outspoken comments often generate heated debate, including from the audience.

Earlier this week it was reported that new TEN shareholder, mining magnate Gina Rinehart was an advocate of Bolt’s.

He is currently appearing in a high-profile litigation case being conducted under claims he has breached the Racial Discrimination Act.

  1. “The title almost sounds like a parody!”

Unbelievable eh? Will be sending Comedy Central a note telling them TEN have ripped off The Colbert Report.

  2. @markwallace and PT Ryan. I think his show should be called “The Blot Report ..Crazy and Crazier”.
The Blot Report should be a definite Logie winner next year, for best Comedy Show.

  3. we should be quite worried about this – for the most part, all aussie tv news shows work hard not to have a distinct agenda and bias…but this show will set out with a deliberate and public bias and slant. it is a shame, because it leads toward the situation they have now in america where all the news is slanted one way or another and people simply watch the news program that suits their own particular slant…and as such are never challenged and simply watch shows that reinforce their own view.

We must make sure this awful program does not succeed and does not start a trend.

  4. I so hope a list is published of the advertisers on the show. That way we can boycott them.Bolt believes Gina should make a lot more money, and would so love her to be richer, so she doesn’t have to pay a Carbon Tax.
Gina doesn’t believe in global warming either, and so wants Bolt to spew her views.

  5. For me, Bolt has pushed Meet The Press into a better timeslot! 8am was way too early for this lazy Gen Y’er, so now I’ll switch over when ABC1 is banging on with boring sport talk on Outsiders.

    So, thanks Bolt… Tholt. 😉

  6. Good to see all the lefty do-gooders out in force on TV Tonight.

At least half the people who have commented in here will still end up watching the show. Therefore a win for Ten.

  7. Thank god he’s gone from Insiders, his last appearance was just appalling. Not once would he let the other two guests finish their comments. You either agree with him or you are wrong.
Looks like Ten’s new owners, Packer, Murdoch and Rinehart want to take it down to Fox news levels just to make a few more bucks.
    Great

  8. “The Bolt Report”??? The title almost sounds like a parody! What were the other suggestions? The Daily Bolt? The O’Bolty Factor? Politically Bolterect?

    What a joke.

  9. A agree with Geoff. Shouldn’t there be more of a diversity of views and opinions on television? Is it right to be critical of Bolt when his show hasn’t even gone to air? In my view there is always a double standard when it comes to political views on television. If we are going to be critical of Andrew Bolt and his views then shouldn’t we also be critical of say Tony Jones? Shouldn’t all opinions be valued and treated equally, or is it if they differ to your own, you are considered an extremist?

  10. @Geoff: there’s a big difference between giving someone free speech and giving someone a public television platform to peddle bigoted, out-dated and easily disproven opinions (most likely presented as ‘news’).
The fact that Gina Rinehart has a hand behind this should dispell and notion that it’s about ‘free speech’, more like Fox News Australia.

  11. Well,I will watch the very first show and then all the advertisers on the programme(it will be interesting, considering Mr Bolts outspoken views about everything) and boycott them all.

The one bonus, we will never have to see or hear him again on Insiders!!!!

  12. I really hope no one watches this show. It will just be Bolt telling everyone Labor is bad, Liberal is good and that homosexuality, aboriginals, asylum seekers, and Muslims are all bad. That’s all that seems to come out of his mouth. Why ten would give a voice to someone like him is beyond belief. The good news, no more Bolt on Insiders.

  13. I’m actually really looking forward to this. Despite Bolt being controversial and quite widely hated, isn’t this a country of free speech and giving this man an opportunity for free speech can allow more Australian’s to make up their minds on many issues he talks about, that most media chooses to neglet.

Love him or hate him, he’ll get all Australian’s thinking.

  14. What does this mean for Video Hits? As Rage finishes early on Sunday mornings and Seven and Nine have weekend editions of their breakfast news shows, Video Hits is really the only alternative to news.

With should be replaced by which in regards to Insiders.
