Chuck Lorre planning Two & a Half Men without Charlie Sheen

Could Chuck Lorre reboot his sitcom with Jon Cryer and a new character?

There are reports that Chuck Lorre is planning to relaunch Two and a Half Men without Charlie Sheen.

With the Fall season looming CBS will need to announce an outcome for the sitcom, so now stories are beginning to emerge that Lorre has presented close associates and co-star Jon Cryer with a forward plan. The show is still worth massive revenue for CBS.

The Hollywood Reporter notes Lorre has told Cryer a reboot would involve a significant role for him and the introduction of a new, yet-to-be-cast character.

Sheen is still working behind the scenes to be reinstated, attempting as late as this week to set up meetings with cast members to win their support. He is also due in Australia next week.

But Lorre is said to remain uninterested in meeting with Sheen, and Warners sources are adamant that Sheen will not be invited back.

Talent representatives also say Warners has quietly begun pursuing an actor to appear on the series next season.

Guessing it isn’t Emilio Estevez….

  1. Let it go already.Latest from Nine is that they might be planning a 7pm News/Chat Show.I hope it comes true and they no longer have to serve up this garbage.

They should have done that a long time ago to sort out their 7pm problems after Temptation got the axe.Thank You Mr Harper thanks to your show we lost an Intelligent Easy to Watch Quiz that is not on the things bogans like list.

  2. They could easily re-jig the program and carry on without Charlie Sheen, as the writers of this show are very talented and damn funny. Jon Cryer is a gifted actor/comedian, much better than C. Sheen, so they have a main character to pivot the new version of the show around. Perhaps a long lost, young adult illegitimate son of Charlie could be written into the show? He could come and live with Alan and Jake, so there are 2.5 Men again. Charlie’s absence could be explained quite easily. He could be killed off in a fatal accident or his absence could be explained by having him run away to Mexico with a stripper, or other some such scenario. Given what a degenerate Charlie’s character was, the writers have a lot of scope to explain his departure from Malibu.

  3. I think I mentioned the idea of a spin off series a couple of months back. John Cryer is very funny and he could be the main character in a new show about Allan Harper.

  4. Got to be some one with a bit of a naughty boy image of the same age who still hold some sort of sex appeal with a waning movie career, the role was made for Russell Crowe and he doesnt even know it.

  5. Good idea preceding without that sicko Sheen. If the show is still potentially profitable for CBS I agree they should soldier on. This is actually the best payback to Sheen for all the trouble he has caused. He should never be employed again as he has proved that he is totally irresponsible, inconsiderate and unconcerning towards the show and it’s cast and crew. I have never seen an episode as I have always disliked Sheen but without him, I will watch the next season……

  6. Didn’t in the last episode so far Charlie ran off with Rose? that’s a perfect place to start again, let him be in Europe somewhere with her.

  7. Jon Cryer is the far superior comedian and actor. If they create the right construct – it could work, at least another season, not that’s necessarily desirable to its overall reputation – but then it is 2.5 men. Adopt another man/child or pre-adolescent and you still have two and a half men. Now my brain hurts from putting wasted energy into a glib money focused sitcom.
