Plus: 2 x Survivor seasons, Neighbours turns 35 -and who are the new MasterChef judges?

  • Three new MasterChef judges Jock Zonfrillo, Melissa Leong and Andy Allen
  • Renewed: Five Bedrooms, Dancing with the Stars, Kinne Tonight
  • Two x Survivor seasons
  • Drunk History series
  • New local drama The Secrets She Keeps, Neighbours turns 35

2020 will feature more returning shows for 10 than ever before, following several strong performers on its 2019 schedule.

10 has surprisingly released much of its Upfronts announcements ahead of its event later today -but kept the name of 3 new MasterChef judges under wraps until media are gathered.

Updated: Jock Zonfrillo, Melissa Leong and Andy Allen to judge season with returning contestants.

Network 10 Chief Content Officer, Beverley McGarvey, said: “A year ago we talked about cementing our position as leaders in escapist entertainment and promised we would have differentiated flagship content targeting our key target market of under 50s – 50 weeks a year.

“We delivered on that promise and Australians responded. We’ve seen year-on year TV share growth in all key demographics since August. 10 Play and 10 Daily have delivered record audience numbers. 10 All Access is an out-of-the-box success. Our 10 Speaks podcasts are winning new fans every day.

“This year we’ve successfully added new, multi-platform content that will grow in the years to come, including The Masked Singer Australia, Dancing With The Stars and Five Bedrooms,” she said.

“Those three new hits have joined a stable of proven performers including MasterChef Australia, Have You Been Paying Attention?, Gogglebox, The Bachelor Australia, Australian Survivor, The Project, 10 News First, The Bachelorette Australia, I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here!, the Melbourne Cup Carnival and many more.

“In 2020, our content will be everywhere – across all platforms – creating a playground that will ensure our shows connect with Australians like never before and get all of Australia talking.”

Julia Morris and Chris Brown return for a new season of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here now in early January. Australian Survivor: All Stars hits screens in February with a second season confirmed for later in the year.

Also in February, Amanda Keller & Grant Denyer return for Dancing With The Stars -now filmed in Melbourne, in what is believed to be due to studio demands at FOX Studios.

Bachelor In Paradise screens early next year with The Bachelor Australia to take on the Olympic Games in July. The Bachelorette also returns.

The Masked Singer, 10’s most successful new series launch in almost 5 years, returns. Duh.

There will also be new seasons of Have You Been Paying Attention?, Gogglebox, Hughesy We Have A Problem, Kinne Tonight and, Taboo while 2018 pilot week entry Drunk History proceeds to series. 10 plans on making announcements around 2019 pilot week shows in “the next few months.” Pilot Week 2020 is also confirmed.

In local drama Five Bedrooms is renewed, plus more of Playing for Keeps and How to Stay Married. New drama The Secrets She Keeps, originally due in 2019, will air in 2020.

Perennial soap Neighbours will turn 35, over on 10 Peach.

Also confirmed are more of The Living Room, Ambulance Australia, Todd Sampson’s BodyHack and Bondi Rescue.

Sporting highlights include Melbourne Cup Carnival, Formula 1 2020 Australian Grand Prix, Bathurst 1000, Supercars, Rugby including the Bledisloe Cup and the MotoGP World Championship.

The Project enters its second decade and there’s more of 10 News First and Studio 10.

New international for 2020 are FBI Most Wanted, starring  Julian McMahon, and (the long-awaited) The Gilded Age from Julian Fellowes (Downton Abbey) starring Christine Baranski, Cynthia Nixon and Amanda Peet. Also back is more of NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, Bull, FBI, The Graham Norton Show, The Conners, various Jamie Oliver titles and more.

Also confirmed are The Amazing Race Australia and One Born Every Minute Australia and Celebrity Name Game.

So what’s missing? Sunday Night Takeaway is not returning. Also out is Show Me the Movie and Changing Rooms. There’s no mention of My Life is Murder or Mr. Black as yet while Trial by Kyle is yet to launch.

  1. I really think that 10 need something on Sunday nights…if it were me, I’d just be using the bank they have of Changing Rooms until all episodes have finished airing, and then put in a new Sunday night Aussie drama as opposed to Graham Norton.

    1. Ooh, just noticed they still haven’t brought back Shark Tank…hoping that it’ll be renewed at some point, I really enjoy it! Maybe it’s just not been announced yet.

Janine being on Survivor this year will probably be good leverage for the show when it returns, tough hopefully that’ll be soon.

  2. ‘We’ve seen year-on year TV share growth in all key demographics since August’
Of course Beverley has to put a positive spin on things but the reality is Ten’s primary channel share is back 8% year on year and 10% in 16-39’s.
Maybe Survivor should have challenge where contestants have to grab for straws while they’re falling.

  3. Great screen design for all 10’s 2020 Programs just not sure about having 3 Outdoor based programs
( Amazing Race, I’m A Celebrity and Survivor: All Stars ) airing one after the other. Could be a bit much for viewers but 10 have 100% got a great variety of Australian Television that is sure to attract advertisers.

  4. Seriously though, there’s absolutely nothing new here from 10 in 2020. I thought there’d be new shows, new formats, something to get excited about. It’s basically all just renewals of shows that’ve kept 10 in 3rd/4th place. The only ting I’m truly excited about is Five Bedrooms returning.

  5. For those wondering about whether Survivor: All Stars will be shorter: a cast list has been leaked with a full 24 contestants (5 from 1 & 4, 7 from 2 & 3) and based on the calendar it’ll run for roughly the same time period as a normal season (maybe they ditch the non-elimination episodes this year with 2 seasons?).

The male cast looks strong even allowing for a late drop-out being replaced by a much weaker player; the women hopefully surprise, but on paper it looks unbalanced towards characters/floaters more than strategists, particularly compared to who they could’ve cast from season 2 (I had to look up who one of the people they did cast was). It is possible they received a lot of knock-backs though.

  6. Great shows. Stoked Five Bedrooms coming back. Hoping for another season of My life is murder. Mastechef, the bachelor franchise , survivor and masked singer…..excellent !

  7. Happy for me HYBPA? and Kinne but very disappointed with the lack of fast tracking. NCIS New Orleans has so far aired 3 episodes in America but all we get here are repeats and Supernatural is back on tomorrow but looking through TV guides won’t be fast tracked on Eleven.

      1. That’s good to know thanks. I don’t understand why they don’t fast track it instead of repeating Frasier for the hundredth time but I’m willing to wait for a bit and at least when the US takes a break we shouldn’t have to.

  8. Yay! for Gilded Age and Bojack Horseman, but where’s This Is Us??? One of the very, very, very few quality US free-to-air dramas, and with a set endpoint. 10 has to see it through.

  9. Waaaah no Big Brother…

I was thinking similar Leigh- could be Big Brother on a Budget- Have G rated show at 6pm and then M rated later at night or on Peach at 8.30.

  10. I’d love to see 10 get Big Brother and strip it at 6pm nightly with an up late show at 1030 for an hour. If not, I’d move 10 News to 530-630, put Bold at 5 and Neighbours at 430.
