When it comes to sci-fi conventions, Supanova always lands some big names.
Supanova Brisbane kicks off today before moving to Melbourne in a week’s time.
Check out some of the names who are appearing:
Brisbane (April 1-3) / Melbourne (April 8-10)
Charisma Carpenter (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Charmed)
Colin Baker (Doctor Who)
Denis O’Hare (True Blood)
Nick Frost (Black Books)
Simon Pegg (Star Trek)
Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica, 24)
Tahmoh Penikett (Dollhouse, Battlestar Galactica)
Peter Williams (Stargate SG-1)
Sydney (June 17-19) and Perth (June 24-26) fans will also get some good names, including a Jeannie reunion:
Larry Hagman (I Dream of Jeannie, Dallas)
Barbara Eden (I Dream of Jeannie)
Bill Daily (I Dream of Jeannie)
James Marsters (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Smallville, Torchwood)
Gareth David-Lloyd (Torchwood)
Morena Baccarin (V)
Luke Perry (Beverly Hills 90210)
But it doesn’t always work out. Christopher Lloyd (Taxi) had to cancel, along with Julie Benz due to new Pilot commitments.
Lloyd said: “Sorry to have to postpone my trip to Australia. Was packed and waiting for the car when I was informed I was just booked today to film a pilot for NBC to start filming on April 1. I was very much looking forward to meeting everyone who attended the Supanova events in both Brisbane and Melbourne. I look forward to coming to Australia soon!”
Gil Gerrard, Jane Badler and Eric Roberts were also cancellations.
Meanwhile a separate Star Trek convention takes place in Sydney tomorrow and in Melbourne on Sunday.
It has William Shatner, JG Hertzler, Robert O’Reilly, Suzie Plakson and Scott Bakula.

There is a Jeannie movie (for cinema, not TV) being planned.
Simon Peg and Nick Frost are known for a lot more than what is listed, including their new movie “Paul”.
Of course, but I’m not a movie blog.
Where the hell do you hear about these things before they occur? Meeting Starbuck alone would be worth the trip to Brisbane.
Bah…I left out that I was referring to Nick Frost. He’s not really known for Black Books and it’s not SF by any stretch.
I saw Colin Baker and K9 actor John Leeson at a Dr. Who convention in Adelaide last Saturday.
Was a fantastic day -it was my birthday as well – and both men are wonderful – really very nice. Colin Baker even sang Happy Birthday to me! To have Dr. Who sing that to a fan like me was awesome!
Wish more events like Supernova would come down my way – would be great.
Wow i didnt know that all three actors who played the three regular roles on i dream if Jeannie are still alive what a achievement. I mean i knew that Larry Hagman was still kicking but Barbara Eden and Bill Daily still alive still good. Maybe with in the near future a studio could remake I dream of Jeannie. That would be good. Although why are they appearing at this convention i didnt think that I dream of Jeannie was a Sci Fi show.
Jane Badler cancelled? My review of her new album in one of Perth’s street press publications next week is less than flattering so that’s one awkward moment avoided. Wonderful actress, though.
WTF I Dream Of Jeannie?
Does this mean the “Christopher Lloyd” name behind “Modern Family” isn’t the CL from “Back to the Future”?
From an S-F perspective, it’d prob be better to list either “Hyperdrive” or “Shaun of the Dead”, rather than BB where he has appeared in (I think) only one ep and provided a voice in another.
Big things happening at the Supanova in Brisbane tonight!!
Charisma Carpenter? I’m booking my ticket now!
wait… is this an April Fools?????
:-O Barbara Eden?!?! I would Love to see her! Nick Frost & Simon Pegg would be amazing too!
Not “Christopher Lloyd (Cheers)” but “Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future, Addams Family)”.
The Cheers guy is a writer and producer, and not the actor who was slated for the convention.
Actually I meant Taxi!
