One day, nobody dies. And then the next day, and the next, and the next. Welcome to Torchwood: Miracle Day.

The fourth season of Torchwood, with an international backdrop, premieres next month on UKTV within 24 hours of its airing in the US.

One day, nobody dies. All across the world, nobody dies. And then the next day, and the next, and the next, people keep aging — they get hurt and sick — but they never die. The result: a population boom, overnight.

With all the extra people, resources are finite. It’s said that in four month’s time, the human race will cease to be viable. But this can’t be a natural event – someone’s got to be behind it. It’s a race against time as C.I.A. agent Rex Matheson investigates a global conspiracy. The answers lie within an old, secret British institute. As Rex keeps asking “What is Torchwood?” he’s drawn into a world of adventure, and a threat to change what it means to be human, forever.
The cast features John Barrowman (as Captain Jack Harkness), Eve Myles (as Gwen Cooper), Mekhi Phifer (as Rex Matheson), Alexa Havins (as Esther Drummond), Bill Pullman (as Oswald Danes), Kai Owen (Rhys Williams), Lauren Ambrose (as Jilly Kitzinger), Arlene Tur (as Dr. Vera Juarez) and also Australian Dichen Lachman.

It premieres 8:30pm Saturday July 9th on UKTV.

  1. God the thought of John Barrowman never dying is truly the most horrifying prospect to ever grace our screens.

    Craig – it debuts in the UK on 14th July – the US and you guys down under will get it first.

  2. @Fan;
    “they get hurt and sick — but they never die”

    If they stop eating I’d guess they’d waste away but still be alive. It also says the human race will cease to be viable, not cease to exist. Symantics probably, but I’d hazard a guess that’s what they were thinking.

  3. awesome love torchwood and dr who
    but if nobody can die, and resources are finite y does no eat and other stuff no one will die then it saves resources

  4. Last I checked there is no UK date for the show, which is kinda odd since fans hard core their will go else where if the show is not fast tracked in the UK.

    I thought originally this was going to be like the last series, shown over consecutive nights but this is more like a full blown series over 10 weeks. I guess US audiences like to spread out their series.
