Ready, Steady, Cook fans already miss Peter Everett

Some TEN viewers got a bit of a shock yesterday when new episodes of Ready, Steady, Cook aired, but without host Peter Everett.

Some TEN viewers got a bit of a shock yesterday when fresh episodes of Ready, Steady, Cook with new host Colin Lane hit the screens.

Maybe they hadn’t heard he was replacing Peter Everett.

A wave of comments hit TV Tonight yesterday afternoon, almost all of which were upset that Everett would no longer be appearing on the popular show.

Many of them let fly at TEN:

Liz: Sorry to see you go Pete, loved the show because you were in it. Not the same without you, always looked forward to your happy, genuine self. Channel 10… not happy!

Penny: Very shocked that Peter would not be hosting anymore, my 14 month old daughter loved ready steady cook, once it came on today and she didn’t see Peter on the screen she was not interested anymore and turned away. Peter was the show, and its boring now!

Lynette: I love Peter & the show but without Peter I am not interested in watching anymore, he made the show. So sad. Good luck Peter for your future.

Beatrice Timmis: i love ready steady cook but peter everett was the show i watched it every day i loved it from the moment it started till it finished sorry but i will not watch it any more even for the reciepes i will continue to buy the book why do you do things like that i dont know

Lorraine Usher: Cannot believe that channel 10 has parted ways with Peter Everett, lost a viewer with this household….

Sacha Haddad: OMG he will bemissed i definetly won’t be watching the show anymore. He was so easy going and funny.

Kay Warrop: After watching the first edition of Ready Steady Cook with new hoast I was very dissapointed as Peter Everett really made the show so now you have not only lost a veiwer for this show but for other shows as well. Hope he comes back with another channel.

Belinda Smith: Bring back Pete! The show sucks without him.

Sharon n: Bring back Peter Everett. I like Colin lane but the show is not the same not sure if I will continue to watch.

Bring Back Peter Everett he was the life of that show. Channel ten you are gone gone gone.

Hilary Bell: Oh, no, only 20 minutes into the new show and Colin Lane looks like a duck out of water. He spends more time looking at the camera than at what is being cooked. Please bring back Peter Everett – a delightful man who drove the chefs crazy on occasions but had a delightful personality with lots of hugs (and self deprecation so often) but he was really interested in what was going on and added so much fun to the show.

But some were glad to see him replaced with Lane:

Sharon: My husband and I both agree that peter Everett was so inappropriate with contestants and chefs alike, we are glad he is gone and hope that the series keeps going with the new host as we do like the show.

  2. My entire family no longer want to watch RSC, Pete definately made the show, Colin Lane is so boring, yesterday while watching I fell asleep 5 minutes into it. I never really like RSC just watched it for Pete.

  3. Was bitterly disappointed to discover that Peter Everett had been replaced by Colin Lane. He doesn’t have the same rapport with the chefs and contestants that Peter had. Granted it will take a while to create that but wont be watching RSC anymore will be switching to another channel!

  4. Why. Why has management been so stupid tou your TV Station. I also had to google to find out where Pete was. Ready Steady Cook is nothing with out Peter. He was funny, respectful, great communication with all of the chefs and for this time of day, it was a wholsome show that you could learn from.
    But whoever searched out a replacement for peter, that is the person/s that should be sacked. There is not one thing funny or even amusing about collin, other than he is constantly checking himself in the monitor. I never watched it seriously until Peter came along. Then the show became a must see time. But now, I wont be bothered.
    Do the right thing and bring back, Peter.

  5. Sorry to see Peter has gone from RSC, really enjoyed his sense of humour. Good luck to Colin, I’m sure it wont take long for him to be a good host also.

  6. Pete is hillarious!! Colin Lane sucks!!! He’s not funny, never has been. Will never watch RSC again and stopped watching The Circle when he was on, he even gave the girls there the shits! He is soooo unfunny and boring

  7. Colin has replaced Peter, just give him a chance, Peter wasn’t the original host of RSC he replaced Chef Nick Stratford. Peter could be funny (which I believe was accidental), but half the time he made comments that he shouldn’t have during daytime TV and could be very crude, he often touched the food the chefs were cooking (and the chefs and contestants) and got in the way a lot

  8. Pete Everett made RSC and Channel 10 has lost a very talented host. I looked forward to watching him ( and the Chefs ) each day and will now look for something else to do at this time. Bring back Pete!!!!!

  9. I thought he was on holidays but decided to goolge just now what was going on.
    I’m surprised and disappointed. Pete was so nice, now I feel it is more based around product placement and advertising with the new host. I liked Colin on the circle but not so much on rsc.
    Good luck to Peter hope he finds somewhere that appreciates him and he gets something he deserves in his new job!

  11. Aww 🙁 the show just isn’t the same, this new guy comes across as fake, not really interested in what’s being cooked, and looks to much at the camera .. Rather then being more natural. Very disappointing!

I had to google ‘What happened to Peter on Ready Steady Cook’ to learn he’s gone, not just on holidays etc. Wow, I’m surprised that it’s effected my viewing so much – but it has, and I’m ok with change! So what a credit to you Peter, we all miss you very much. Nothing beats warmth and authenticity and you gave to us in bucket loads and drew many of the chefs out of themselves. I wish you all the best and expect someone will snap you up to do something exciting that we’ll all enjoy. I hope you are ok. You remind me of Emma Freedman on Channel 9 – you’re both contagious and when you’re not in our lives we miss your presence. Big hugs to you. Keep shining!

    You may not even be aware that he brought with him a warmth and humanness to the show that is now lost. Hear it – it is now lost. In fact, I cannot bear to even watch it these days (my husband, Syd, agrees with me also which I must say I was surprised to hear as he does not usually mind changes, etc. but in this case, he said, he agrees).
    Maybe Peter was a little inappropriate with guests and chefs sometimes, but you know what – who cares – it was with Peter’s enchanting warmth and love and we all accepted it, happily. He is a gorgeous, adorable man.
    Bring Peter back!

  21. My husband & I could not wait to watch RSC.Each day we would hurry home in time to watch it ,but not any more.we will be changeing our routine to switch channels.The new host is soooo boring & fake.Bring back Peter.”If it aint broken Dont fix it”

  23. What a shame!!! I won’t watch it anymore. Peter was the soul of Ready Steady Cook, he made all the difference. Without him, it’s just boring!!! Bring Pete back, Channel 10!!!

  25. Finally got a chance to watch Ready Steady Cook and no Pete; it just isn’t the same anymore – Pete was it – his type of humour is great and he is a genuine unaffected person. I don’t even like to cook and yet I watched Pete. Good luck Pete……
