Spoiler: Ooops. Matt Preston spoils MasterChef immunity challenge

Spoiler: Matt Preston has apparently spoiled (and deleted) the outcome of a MasterChef Immunity challenge on his Facebook page.

Spoiler: Matt Preston has apparently spoiled the outcome of a MasterChef Immunity challenge on his Facebook page.

On the page he says: “So Hayden now has two Immunity pins. Do you think he should be able to give one away? He’s a nice guy, but maybe not that nice hey? :)”

Followers of his site have have responded with shock:

“Isn’t this tonight?”
“Awkward.. .we haven’t seen this episode yet haha”
“Big spoiler. Thanks Matt :P”
“Oh oh. Spoiler alert.”
“Gee thanks for ruining tonights episode Matt
“Cool – I now get to watch Mythbusters tonight instead!!!”
“Boo, thanks for that Matt!”
“I was thinking, gee, I’m sure I watched last night, what did I miss??!! LOL.. Thanks for the spoiler ;-)”

The episode in question airs tomorrow night* on TEN. For the record, Hayden wins.

UPDATED: The page in question is now deleted. But Preston has updated: “Good to see so many people are following my posts so closely…and apologies for the confusion. Hayden has immunity this week, if he wins the cook-off he’ll be making history with two immunity pins. But will he? You had better be watching MasterChef this week to find out!”

* corrected.

  1. Please! This is his third year doing the show and he accidentally releases this spoilerish information? What a pathetic and desperate attempt at a ratings grab.

This season has felt more scripted and set up than previous. Watching the promo for tomorrow nights episode, I was unsurprised to see that Hayden is going up against a pastry chef in a challenge with meat and veggies. Rigged much? No guess needed to see who the producers’ favorite is!

  2. So they’ve got a “cheating” contestant hidden away in a motel for secrecy reasons, yet Matt Preston can blurt this out. Lock Preston up in a motel for the rest of the season, actually leave him there for the filming of next season too.

  3. Serves the production team right! What they should’ve done was tell all involved including judges, contestants, crew ect that their personal facebook and twitter accounts are meant to be about their personal lives. However anything to do with the show is reserved for the official MasterChef website/facebook/fan page.

That’s how you keep things under lock and key. You’d think after 3 seasons they would’ve learned this by now.

  4. Oh, and let’s not forget how Hayden got his first immunity pin. He didn’t go against a celebrity chef but some apprentice? Yeah, no favouritism there.

  5. @ Chris N – can’t stand Dani, espceially hate the way she thinks everything out of her own mouth is hilarious – it isn’t, it really, really isn’t!!!

  6. What would happen if he does have two immunity pins? Maybe he should just give away one, so there’s no complaints about him saving two eliminations from other contestants.

  7. Yes, Haydn does win against a Pastry Chef and they have to cook Roast Pork dish and the Chef doesn’t get the receipe, another soft immunity for Hayden after winning against a young apprentice earlier, Hayden is truly favoured and now with two pins will be in the Final

  8. Yes he does get it, he is up against a Pastry Chef, and the challenge is to cook roast pork dish, no recipe card or the Pastry chef, funny when Haydn won his last immunity pin he was up against an apprentice chef….me thinks Hayden is being set up to get to the final and with two pins, he will get there now…

  9. @Anthony Mai: Adam also had one last year. There was one week where the immunity challenge was between two contestants (Adam and Aaron). I don’t remember if he used it, though.

I also agree with the comments about the blatant Hayden bias. And am I the only one who dislikes Danielle? She is so pompous and insincere, which is twice as annoying because they always cut to her making some backhanded comment every five minutes. Every episode.

  10. The thing is if Hayden does have 2 pins then he can basically sail through to the top 2 or 3. He is a pretty good cook and has backed himself in other elimination challenges so 2 would be pretty handy.

I think the other contestants would be privately annoyed if he does have the 2. He will be hard to beat. I reckon they should have given Peter the win last night. His dish was just as good.

  11. Did he just do this so people wont watch AGT seeing as it thrashes MC on tuesdays. I know he and danni have been twittering comments to each other about this.

Well I watch AGT anyway and flick over to MC in the ads. But I reckon Matt stuffed up.

  12. @pete, yes, that person was Marion. She used her pin to get out of one of those taste test immunity challenges, if my memory serves me correctly.

  13. @ Anthony Mai, if my mermory serves me correctly, one of last years contestants used an immunity pin not to take part of an elimination chalenge. Just cant remember who

  14. I don’t think i’ll watch Masterchef anymore if Hayden wins this series. Hayden is annoying and seems there’s an obvious bias towards him. Think the judges have picked him to win already

  15. There’s really no point if Hayden holds onto the pins til finals week and never gets to use them!

Am I correct to say that no immunity pin has been used on the show? Was Marion the only person to have one last year? She never used it and got booted…
