Another Renovators contestant quits

After being continually at loggerheads with another contestant, Ali quits TEN's Renovators -and producers avoid a moment of high drama.

A second contestant in The Renovators has quit the TEN reality show.

43 year old Ali, a designer from New South Wales, told the judges she wanted out.

It followed a white-room challenge in which she had been continually at loggerheads with another contestant, 41 year old Kelly.

“This hasn’t been one challenge, this has been happening repeatedly,” she said.

“I feel I can’t creatively continue. I’m really sorry but that’s the end of the journey for me.”

But in a moment of poor storytelling, the show immediately cut to a promo for Monday night.

This was a moment of high drama but where was the discussion by judges?

Why did producers and editors avoid any analysis?

We saw nobody try to get her to change her mind, no response from Kelly, not even any input from the team captain Michael. Nothing…

It was the second time a contestant has voluntarily quit the show, following 64yo Phil quitting last week.

  1. I hope Kelly loses the challenge tonight and that Ali can be talked back to the show, i can’t see that team surviving if they don’t!
Kelly was an outright bully and has no respect for anything which is not of his own making – he has no concept of working as part of a team.
His credentials for being a better designer than Ali in the French inspired whiteroom challenge….. ‘I’ve watched the Tour de France for years’ – what authentic designer would lead this argument with such an irrelevant remark??

  2. Kelly is a complete idiot, he bullied her. Alison is not a drama queen, or dramatic. Poor Alison is only polite to Kelly, and i was frustrated to watch how disrespectful he was towards the team and working as a team! I wish he had left and Alison stayed. She had extreme talent and she was a great asset to the team and the show

  3. Whilst we don’t know the whole story, I’m pretty disappointed that the producers didn’t pull Kelly up for his bullying behavior. There is no place in this world for bullies like Kelly- his way of communicating his opinion to Ali sets a bad example for everyone….not pulling Kelly up almost endorses his behavior all for a few ratings and ‘drama’ for the show!!
Kelly is no renovator and certainly no designer. He should go.

  4. I hated the editing job and wanted to see what the fellow contestants/judged/host had to say. Last time this happened, it was edited well.

In the “after the break promo” im sure we saw the host (can’t remember his name) say somethingt in response, but nothing…unless i saw this on something else all together haha

  5. Whilst Kelly was being a total tool, the phrase taking your bat and ball and going home comes to mind.

Stand up to him – don’t chuck a tanti and walk out.

  6. I agree with you, I saw those final scenes and that had to be one of the worst editing jobs I’ve ever seen. There was no follow-up, no discussion, nothing. She just announced she quit then it cut to a promo. Huh????????? Very poor.

  7. The paint was under both eyes – like a nighttime footy match.

I hope she stays & “Don’t Breathe The Dust” Kelly gets knocked out soon. He has no skillls besides bullying.

  8. “Why did producers and editors avoid any analysis?” I expect it’s a cliffhanger ending, and will be resolved on tonight’s show. It used to happen all the time on The Biggest Loser. Smart move considering they were trying to get MasterChef viewers coming back for more.

  9. Yes I also thought it odd how they just cut to the promo for tomorrow/rest of the week episodes…. very strange since it could be seen as a major shake up

Hopefully they get to clear it all up tonight.. now at 7.30 remember lol

  10. In the ‘coming up’ bit, they actually showed the host saying ‘We don’t want you to leave just yet’…. Not sure why they then didn’t include it in the broadcast… It was very odd…

  11. Kelly railroaded her by ripping up the tape she’d spent a lot of time on placing on the floor for a painted border… it would only have taken someone 10 minutes to have gone around with a small roller and completed that job. Kelly also insisted on his stupid starry window thing in one of the earlier challenges, despite being told by the team’s leader he didn’t want it. I see a pattern forming here.

I feel sorry for Ali, it’s not fair to get bullied out. She should have stood her ground. Kellly’s a jerk.

  12. I am guessing she changes her mind. I think it was poorly edited and somewhere in the rush to make sure it finishes on time for MC finale they have made an error. Prior to her announcement in the “coming up” section just before final ad Brendan Moat is seen asking her “not to make a decision now” a this wasn’t shown after the ad. There was the really clumsy jump straight to the preview for the coming week. I think there has been a stuff up that they will need to rectify with editing tonight.

  13. I havent seen much of the show but this woman was so frustrating to watch, over dramatises everything, Prehaps the judges felts ok with er leaving, I know I am.
