To be produced by Blackfellas Films it will be written by Sue Smith, directed by Rachel Perkins with Darren Dale and Miranda Dear as Executive Producers.

The fight for land rights for Indigenous Australians brought by Eddie Mabo (pictured) led all the way to the High Court and eventually the Native Title Act 1993 under the Keating Government.

The telemovie is currently casting in Queensland including looking for first-time Indigenous actors in Cairns, Murray Island and Thursday Island.

Shooting will take place in Northern Queensland from mid September to late October.

  1. Eddie Mabo was an amazing man and with Darren Dale and Rachel Perkins involved (they were responsible for First Australians) it’ll undoubtedly be a beautifully produced program.

  2. should be a good movie if it gets of the ground. I want australias best indiginous actors involved in this, it would give it more cred.
