Next month's Live in the Studio forum at ACMI will discuss Star Trek.

Next month’s Live in the Studio forum at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image will delve into the world of the Starship Enterprise –Star Trek.

Beam aboard the Starship ACMI and voyage into the depths of intergalactic television as we explore the television show that boldly went where no show had gone before – Star Trek– in this special edition of ACMI’s popular Live in the Studio program.

From the moment the original series hit our TV screens in 1966, Star Trek was a pop culture phenomenon, spawning six series over the next forty years.

Exploring the final frontier, the series established and reworked science fiction myths. It also echoed the changing cultural landscape from the 1960s through to 2005, winning over a worldwide legion of fans in the process.

Join Robert Jan, Clementine Ford, Josh Kinal, John Richards and Dr Djomi Baker on the Studio 1 flight deck as they look at what makes Star Trek such an enduring franchise, explore its cultural impact and discuss the programs that have followed it into the Milky Way.

  1. Thanks David. Kind of appropriate place to hold it considering it’s located in “Federation Square” . That said why do they insist on putting things on during sci-fi Thursday?

Lastly I assume that the six series spawned includes itself:

    1) TOS (The Original Series – labelled that way afterwards )
    2) Animated
    3) The Next Generation (TNG )
    4) Deep Space 9 (DS9 )
    5) Voyager
    6) Enterprise.

Plus the films. Unless I’ve forgotten something.
