Renewed: Strike Back, MasterChef (US). Axed: Free Agents

Action series, Strike Back (aka Strike Back: Project Dawn), featuring Philip Winchester and Aussie actor Sullivan Stapleton, was renewed for a second season last week by US Pay TV network Cinemax.

Both men are part of an elite counter-terrorism team.

The co-production between UK’s Sky and Cinemax will see 10 new episodes begin shooting in South Africa early next year.

Strike Back: Project Dawn, as it is known in the UK, is a second series to Strike Back which follows John Porter (Richard Armitage), a former British Special Forces soldier, who is drafted back into service by MI6.

Also renewed is MasterChef (US) for FOX, featuring Gordon Ramsay, Joe Bastianich and Graham Elliot. All three judges will return for a third season.

Meanwhile NBC has ditched new Fall comedy show, Free Agents, featuring Hank Azaria.

“Thanks to NBC for giving us a shot, thanks to all who watched Free Agents, and thanks to all who worked on the show — we had so much fun!!” Azaria tweeted.

Lucky he has that Simpsons thing to fall back on?

  1. I have watched all episodes so far of “Strike Back” Project Dawn and I’ve got to say …make sure this show is on your “must watch” list because it is one of the best shows I’ve seen in years,Sullivan Stapleton is excellent as Damien Scott….actually he makes to show,I only hope that this show helps launch Sully into bigger and better things in the US.

  2. I really like Free Agents, one of the better show this ‘Fall’. I never saw the BBC original, didn’t know there was one until I checked online. So production has halted and staff told not to come into work, just that means no more eps will go to air. NBC is having a hard time getting anything to work.

On a bright note late week Parenthood was boosted with 2 more eps from it’s original 16 ep season 3 order. Yes unusually the show only got 16 eps for the current season. It was confirmed in a interview with the show runner, Jason Katims. Maybe with other shows being cancelled or on the verger Parenthood could still get a full 22 ep season?
