Vampire Diaries fans slam GO!

Angry viewers have slammed GO! for on-selling The Vampire Diaries to Foxtel.

Angry viewers have slammed GO! for on-selling The Vampire Diaries to Foxtel.

Fans have bombarded their official Facebook page for selling the third season to Pay Television.

The US series was one of the channel’s profile brands, helping it to launch as the most popular digital channel in 2009.

But now many viewers on GO!’s Facebook page are so incensed they are advocating illegal downloads of the show:

Gwendolyn McBride:I think what really is bugging everyone is for months and months and months you have made out you may show VD in the future. Yes of late you mentioned Foxtel but you still made out VD season 3 could be shown by you early next year. You stated you were waiting for more episodes to air in the U.S so you could have a flow of episodes. What a load of shit! Anyone who does not know how to download now is the time to learn or stream it directly off youtube.

Amelia Mansell: i think a lot of people hate you now go… including me.

Zicon Cullen: Gee wat a shocker…… NOT! I said this before the usa started veiwing the 3rd season….. what a bunch of losers you guys are.

Cherie Kemp: How disappointing Go!!!! You really aren’t going to have many viewers left soon 🙁

Emmy Damon: The only reason I ever liked Go!’s facebook page was because of Vampire Diaries. I’m going to unlike!!!!!! >:(

Lauren McQuilty: R U F***ing KIDDING ME! YOU GAVE AWAY VAMPIRE DIARIES TO FOXTEL! HOW COULD YOU! Not everyone needs foxtel or has money for it HOW COULD YOU GO!

Belinda Simpson: And now I have no reason to watch your channel- good work.

Dean Phelps: Such a sad state GO! have become. When you first started you lived up to the claim of being the youth channel. You had an awesome opportunity to enhance that this year with shows like TVD, PLL, Secret Circle, Heart of Dixie. Your not a force anymore, now your just making up the numbers in regards to the digital channels.

Codee Mullings: GO! U have just lost ANOTHER veiwer 4 good! Stop giving all the popular shows to bloody foxtel!! >:-l

  1. Isn’t Eleven starting to do better than GO! most nights now anyway? This won’t help.

The angry fans in this case need to vent their anger at The CW instead. Tell them that their affiliate in Australia is treating the show like crap and to tear up their current contract with them and create an exclusive deal between TEN/Eleven

  2. Channel 9/GO! how do you intend to win back viewers when you behave this way? I think you were on the right track by bringing Survivor back almost in line with the US. How dare you insinuate you were going to show VD in your GO! promos.
Also @Kerry what’s with the attitude? This is a tv site and hopefully the people who participate love tv. What are you doing on this site if you are not interested in tv? Don’t tell people to get a life. If it matters so little to you why did you take the time to comment?

  3. I’ve seen the first six episodes of the Vampire Diaries season three and it’s the best season so far!! Watching Stefan turn dark and Klaus running around causing chaos has been bloody amazing.

As if you would wait for a multichannel or buy Foxtel to watch it…so much effort when there are other methods

  4. The networks complain about people downloading shows, but they still do things like this. TVD started on the CW (in HD) in the US back in September so I’m sure there are already ways for fans to see season 3 without waiting for Foxtel.

  5. Its not GO!’s falt its Nine’s. people can get angy yeah thats fine, but please bag the correct organisation or better yet Network. These extra channels are not like the cable channels in the US where they are there own business. These channels here are owned and operated by the parent Network, in this case The NIne Network. please people blame them. Nine baught the rights not GO!.

  6. Would have been good if they could have onsold it to 11 somehow. Shame it came to this. I once thought this was their main show. Look at all the merchandise you can buy of it in Australia and on it is printed ‘As seen on GO!”.

  7. get used to it foxtel and austar are losing customers in droves because of the switch over they will do any thing to get them back an this is only the start

  8. What will happen is Go will air season 3 of TVD, but when season 4 kicks off next year, which for most is too long a wait. Go started showing Gossip Girl season 4 a month ago at 11.30 pm Sundays, while season 5 kicked off a month ago in the US. I hope Go haven’t onsold Nikita, which was treated like absolute crap by them in its run of season 1. Eleven aren’t perfect either, with being 2 years behind in 90210 episodes.

  9. @ Lauren,

Fox8 premieres PLL s1 on November 1st, & the s1 dvd arrives here in the first week of november.

If Fox8 has accquired PLL s1, they would also accquired s2.

Fox8 & Foxtel has been a solid & reliable source to watch a lot of my favourite US shows such as ‘Chuck’, ‘Gossip Girl’, ‘Kyle XY’ etc.

Both new eps of ‘Chuck’ & ‘Gossip Girl’ have been put @ 11.30pm on GO!, after they’ve screened an over-repeated movie or one of the 3 really bad & unfunny Chuck Lorre comedies. On Fox8, both ‘Chuck’ & ‘Gossip Girl’ were screened @ 7.30pm or 8.30pm weeknight timeslots.

  10. I’ve seen these fans on the Go Facebook page for a very long time. They have pretty much been there day after day, countless people asking, no, begging for this show. It really is remarkable, I don’t think I’ve seen such support for a show. Go didn’t see the potential they had with bringing in these fans, getting them on their side and then feeding them similar shows like Secret Circle, Hart of Dixie, Gossip Girl as well as RJ Berger and Glory Daze (both of which they’ve promised for months now). Instead, they’ve lost countless viewers, made them disgruntled and unlikely to return. All for what? So they can show more repeats of Two and a Half Men, Big Bang, Mike and Molly and S&$T My Dad Says. Just goes to show you that Go is no longer youth, it really is just a second viewing of Nine shows. What actual new shows are they currently showing?!

  11. For Go viewers who can’t afford Foxtel and/or aren’t interested in getting it, this is going to be a very heavily downloaded show, like Dexter and Breaking Bad both are.

  12. As with any show on nine/go/gem, VD rated well while it had a consistent timeslot on the same time each week. Once they messed with that (and they usually do) people stopped watching and ratings dropped. Disappointed but not surprised.

  13. we knew it was gonna happen but if GO commit to a show, they should bloody well stick with it. yeah sure they sold off others but they never got to air on FTA so thats fine but people have stuck with go and they treat viewers like they don’t matter. who do you think watches it go? all they care about is movies no one wants to watch!

  14. I’m angry but I these days I wait for the dvds now because of erratic scheduling. But I’d probably have to wait a long time for season three to become available on dvd.

  15. It’s all about money, which is something Nine needs lots of to meet their huge interest payments and the ridiculous WB “deal” they’re locked into.

  16. It defies logic that Nine on-sold Vampire Diaries to Foxtel and paid big bucks to buy more BBC programs. Goes to show that Nine cares more about older viewers than younger viewers.

  17. FOX8 claim to have exclusive rights the the third season. So what I’m wondering is did Nine do a deal that would prevent Foxtel from onselling to the Ten Network i.e. like Smallville. Because they could acquire it for Eleven. But would they have a time delay in the contract before that could happen? Because if Ten were smart they could get the show and play the final half of the second season plus the third season and maybe onto the fourth season if that takes awhile. They could also put it on Monday at 8.30pm. But I don’t know if the contract would allow that or when it could be done. I wouldn’t be surprised if because they are reliable it could build to over 200,000 people or at least around 100,000 . Probably wishful thinking and will never happen.

  18. I noticed someone i those comments mentioned Pretty Little Liars. Any idea whether Go intends to continue showing this? Another one of those great Go programs that appears to have been forgotten!

  19. I don’t know the last time I watch GO!

But on the other hand I have Austar so it doesn’t bother me, apart from the fact Fox8 won’t/can’t show S3 until it burns through S1&2. Also they have been promoting the hell out of The Secret Circle, during Rove LA this week I think they had an ed each commercial break of it.

Surely this is going to cost GO! viewers not having some of the hot new shows of the season or returning fan favorites. Like others have commented GO! is fast turning into a crappy movie channel.

  20. As soon as I heard the rumours I was pretty sure this was going to happen, just based on GO’s utter lack of regard for its viewers. Oh well. I guess I have no reason to watch GO anymore. Nor will I bother to give any of its new shows a chance.
