Nine has confirmed Big Brother: Secrets for 2012, tipped by TV Tonight last April.

Last night Nine confirmed Big Brother: Secrets in its network promo for 2012.

As far back as April TV Tonight tipped the “Secrets” format as being the way forward for a Big Brother revival:

“In France it has morphed into Secret Story, a series in which each contestant enters the house with a personal secret. Housemates are compelled to interact with one another to try and discover each secret and win cash prizes. Result: no more flying under the radar.”

Last week TV Tonight also revealed new host Sonia Kruger.

Nine is expected to reveal further details tomorrow.

  3. I was not a fan of Big Brother and ended up not watching it, but if that is what people want to watch then good luck to them, there has to be variety to cater for all likes by people.

    The biggest difference now of course is that instead of 5 channels to choose from, we have 3 x 7’s, 3 x 9’s, 3 x 10’s, 4 x ABC’s and 2 x SBS’s, even if Nine spread this onto GO! as well as 9 main like they do with other shows, still leaves more choice than before (as well as dvd rental).

    So not going to complain, it is what it is and has a built in viewer and advertising base that have wanted it to return, if rates badly then it will be over, if it rates well, then that is what people want, good luck to them.

  4. People feel the need to belittle Big Brother calling the viewers idiots etc because they are sheep and see others doing it and it is just a domino effect..

    There is hundreds of shows i dont watch but i dont go and bash them individually.

  11. Ii have a terrible feeling this will rate extremely. Viewers these days are stupid and will watch anything. And with social networking, young people will flock to it. The only thing I can see that would stop it, is if Ten wises up, and moves Masterchef, Biggest Loser, back to a 7pm start. That would help them enormously. And if they really need to keep The Project at 1 hour length, then 6-7pm will do. Cos 1.5hrs of news is too long.

  12. i hope it works but I am a worried that it wont because it is on channel 9 but on the upside nine have done well with the stupid apprentice and the block I also hope that they bring back uplate and friday night live I agree that uplate would be good on go

  16. Big Brotehr secrets was a complete flop in the netherlands earlier this year.
    This is the country that gave birth to the format. it ran its course – died a death and then this year they tried to reibnvent it with “Secrets” and it bombed! I do hope Nine can do better but do not ahve much faith.

  17. Big Brother Secrets. But not a number ? so what does this tells you for the following year too 2013 and so on? no big brother and this is a one off special season big brother in 2012 ? i just can’t simply see the name just big brother: secrets.

    But i have a feeling that since this is so secret and hardly not many media knows… there could simply have a numebr added to this.. It would proves that in 2013 and many more will also continue to have big brother show.

    I hope this wont be a boring big brother show… since channel 9 likes to do the lots of shopws that does alot of chat chat chat blah blah blah… but not much of intertainment sort of to speak.

    I believe that channel 9 national news at 5pm will be taken off the time slot and have big brother afternoon update show at 530pm not sure if this is going to be 30minutes or 1 hour programe. Because not sure if the (who wants to be a millionaire) would be yet taken off the time at 530pm. But then again that show was on during the nights not anymore till they moved it at 530p. But they might re-run the show during early in the mornings…

  18. I hope the secrets aren’t lame like “My mother doesnt know I have a tattoo”, or “I quit Uni and tell people I am still there”… I have a feeling they will be though. I doubt it will be “I’m a member of the Secret Service”.

  19. I really hope this does not flop, i wish they would just go back to basics with what we know and love about Big Brother its been 4 years its time. Im worried this show wont get enough air time and we will not get to know and love the housemates like we use too. Hopefully i am wrong.
