Denise Drysdale quits The Circle

Updated: "After working non-stop for 52 years, it’s time for me to take a break," says Denise Drysdale.

Denise Drysdale has quit The Circle.

The veteran TV presenter has been part of TEN’s morning show for two years, alongside Chrissie Swan, Yumi Stynes and Gorgi Coghlan.

Drysdale has been a regular on the show for several days a week, due to other engagements and her residence in rural Victoria.

“After working non-stop for 52 years, it’s time for me to take a break. This is a huge step for me, I’m not sure how I’ll go! I have been a workaholic – there’s never been a time in my life where I haven’t been working, so it will take a while for me to get used to it,” she said.

“And what better time than with the arrival of my first grandson this week, Bodhi. I know I’m going to miss everyone, all the wonderful crew and of course Gorgi, Yumi and Chrissie.”

The show finished its last 2011 show with a musical number of the cast and regulars dressed as Roman godesses singing “Hold On.”

  1. Will miss Denise’s jokes but she was only there 2 days a week and now that she has a new grandson she probbaly wants to spend more time with family which is fair enough,

I wonder if they will rotate because I noticed this week they had on guest hosts that have never been on before. Collette Mann would be an ideal replacement even if for 2 or 3 days. I hope they stick with Jane Kennedy on a Friday. She is great.

  2. Don’t get me wrong… I really like Colin Lane… but please keep this an all female troop. One of this show’s strong points is how these women bounce off each other, throwing Colin in the mix just muddies the premise.

Colette and Jane are always great on this show and definitely get my vote… dare I even suggest Kate Langbroek… controversial I know but that’s always been part of her charm.

  3. I love Denise, but I have notice on many occasions Gorgi getting very annoyed when Denise speaks over the top of her. Denise Scott would also be an ideal replacement.

  4. That’s a shame.

How about a Gold Logie nomination for Denise to honour her for 50+ years of sparkling TV moments.

And her best ever moment wasn’t even televised! When she walked out of her good mate Molly Meldrum’s roast because she was so offended by the crude jokes.

    A real class act.

    You’ll be missed Ding Dong!

  5. Oh please….not Colin Lane…..not sure who….we could dream that it might be KAK….
I can appreciate that Dennise wants to slow down….have a great life Ding Dong and congrats. on the grandie….:)

  6. Colette Mann makes the most sense and she fits the show. They’ll probably go with someone too boring or over the top though. Australian TV always finds a way to screw up transitions.

  7. I love the circle its the best of the morning shows, but Denise really made it funny…the other girls are doing a great job so i hope they find someone as funny as denise to fill the gap….they need someone over 50 to balance things out

  8. Hmmm – maybe KAK can join the Circle?

Ding Dong is another great legend! Her work on the Late 90’s early 00’s revamp of IMT was brilliant!

    Best of luck Denise!
