It’s official.

Kim Kardashian has filed for divorce from Kris Humphries, citing “irreconcilable differences” after only 72 days of marriage.

Kardashian, whose lavish wedding was filmed for E!’s Kim’s Fairytale Wedding: A Kardashian Event, has also not arrived for today’s Melbourne Cup.

“After careful consideration, I have decided to end my marriage,” she said in a statement.

“I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision. I had hoped this marriage was forever, but sometimes things don’t work out as planned. We remain friends and wish each other the best.”

The two started dating last December and were engaged by May. They married on Aug. 20 in Montecito.

Humphries and Kardashian briefly honeymooned for paparazzi on Italy’s Amalfi Coast, then moved into a three-bedroom suite with sister Kourtney, her boyfriend Scott Disick and their 22-month-old son to film the second season of Kim & Kourtney Take New York.

E! is currently holding emergency meetings regarding the show’s upcoming season.

“I love my wife and am devastated to learn she filed for divorce,” Humphries said in a statement to E! News. “I’m committed to this marriage and everything this covenant represents. I’m willing to do whatever it takes to make it work.”

Kardashian is due to be interviewed by Sunrise on Thursday.

  10. Run Kris and get away from that family. Especially her mother. Interesting to see how she is while in Australia. Her and her sister are meant to be on sunrise thursday.

    Wow well at least she got her millions out of it.

    Yeah right they will stay friends. Just adds another chapter to there series. Thats 2 marriages now she hasnt got right.

  11. “irreconcilable differences” that is always with celebrities isnt it? THey can never stay and work it out, they just have to divorce, although it is the symptom of society which they have partly influenced. Couples dont try hard enough to stay together, also it may well have been a stunt the whole thing, She needs the money still.
