45 Comments:

  1. I prefer the old format because I like to see the programs outside of the top 20. The top 20 is usually made up of news and current affairs, so if you have an interest in another show it’s unlikely to be in the top 20.

  2. Hmm it’s OK, I think I preferred the format before from a simplicity point of view… but I can see why people would like the table.

*However* I think a table for channel shares is unnecessary.

A quirk of the data given to you by OzTAM perhaps, but why is very channel a ‘network’, surely Eleven, Ten and One are all channels, and part of Network Ten?

I also think that the info at the top of the table takes up a lot of space to not really say much. Could easily be:
    Sunday
FTA Shares, 5 City, Total People, 1800-2400

Would it be possible to have the top 20 multichannels from prime-time only? It’s not really worth having a top 20 if more than half is taken up by ABC2’s preschool programming.

Just some suggestions. As always, love your work David

  3. Secret Squïrrel

Looks fine for me on both IE8 and Chrome 15 on WinXP. Love the table format – city numbers are now much easier to read. Obviously one shouldn’t look a gift horse in mouth but I would prefer 50 teeth instead of just 20.

As per my comment on the Ratings Return post, I would prefer that each day’s data be appended so that there is one main thread for people to discuss ratings. This should better facilitate the occasional conversations that occur, and allow people to join in on subsequent days.

  4. I just changed Zoom level to make writing larger…..
I guess there is a lot of info here….but a bit more than I really care to troll through….
But good that this thread is back and everyone will be discussing ratings….I hope..

  5. Looks OK to me. I like that the individual city figures are easier to find in the tables and separate. But I’ll admit I’d prefer a bigger size font but I get that some of the tables wouldn’t fit. Also I wish there was spaces between the network percentages to better separate them. Because it’s one long list. Plus I’ll admit I’d prefer a 6pm-6am list for the multi-channels to eliminate the daytime figures. Although could that mean ABC News 24 might show up during a big news story (with a 24 hour list ) . That might be interesting to see. Otherwise I don’t care generally I’ll admit. I know it’s probably impossible to change it. I’d prefer in an ideal world there’d be a top 100. Especially if they are daily. But nothing’s perfect.

    Thanks David.

  6. I like the table ormat for the ratings. But the digital channels is pointless if it’s just ABC2. Maybe just the top 10 is needed. Same with Foxtel. Don’t care, and just all the same anyway.
But are we turning into America? Who cares about this demos crap. American’s that all ratings means, but here it’s numbers. I don’t understand it anyway.

You could say Terra Nova is a flop, but it’s actually not. It was #1 in Brisbane and Perth, equal first in Melbourne. Just beaten by Bones. And today, those numbers seem to be the norm.

  7. I’m in shock at how 60 minutes is topping all the demos!

Also interesting how there’s no mention of WIld Boys in any of the demo top 5. That combined with less than 900k viewers is probably why Seven are not bringing it back..

  8. Like the new ratings format. The digital channels are doing good numbers. I have never had pay tv and with all the multichannels now i will never need to. It will be interesting if Foxtel holds onto all its subscribers or if people start to drop of. I think foxtel will find this new enviroment challenging.
