So pleased to see the end of the Today‘s show uninspired set.

This morning it begins broadcasting from a bigger studio with a new look and a new logo.

By the looks of this preview there are apricot hues on the set, several segment presentation areas, big plasma screens, a large red couch with a white coffee table and a cooking area fitted with many shiny silver appliances.

“These actually work, these ones,” says Lisa Wilkinson.

Definitely an improvement, but is it just me or is some of it channelling Sunrise?

  1. doesnt sunrise look towards the American Today show…and now the Australian Today show have similar elements to the Sunrise show… apples for apples…. as long its on air ..who really cares…. im more driven by the personalities…and at the moment..its with 9 and Today…although big Dickie could be the only weakness…

  4. I prefer the Today show to Sunrise, can’t stand whiny Kochie and Mel, but I did a double take when I turned it on this morning. I had to check to make sure I did not have Sunrise on. While I like the bright colours, etc. it does seem a bit too much like Sunrise, I think they could have made good changes so it did not look like the Sunrise colours.

    But then again, we have yet to see what could be even dumber, Ten’s Breakfast?

    At least Nine seems to have dispensed fulltime with the silly news ticker on Today.

  7. i like their new logo. but i turned on at 7.55am this morning and a lot of the shots were close ups of the presenters. even during segment changes. i was trying to get a look at the full set. maybe some more sweeping wide shots Today. you have a bigger set – show it off!

  9. This is so bad!! What are you doing? Other than the fact that it looks like Sunrise, the colours really hurt your eyes first thing in the morning. It looks cheap and nasty. Bad move.

  11. I really like it ! I don’t think it is that much of a copy off sunrise, the logo maybe a little, but overall excellent graphics and very appropriate set !

  12. While I dont watch either show even on a semi regular basis, I can see this this is very much a sunrise copy, but and cheap looking one too – therefore very channel 9.

  13. I saw this on a TV screen from a distance while I was ordering my coffee this morning. I thought, “why is Sunrise doing a promotion on Celebrity Overhaul??”

    Switched over at 8:35 to take a look. May be a new set but same old recycled material. “Parents -v- Teachers”. Done to death 3-4 months ago.
    Someone been trawling “Sunrise”‘s dumpster picking up bits and pieces?
    And ABC24, which I now watch in the mornings, seems to be putting a toe in the orange/redish set area too.

  15. Looks Great!!! I don’t think it’s that similar to sunrise…today has always had these colours even in their old set.

    I think it can only be good for their ratings and the viewers!

  19. Very much a ‘Sunrise’ look and feel about this new set. And as for the colour choices Today have gone with – way too much red/yellow/orange.

    Also, when will the Today Show and Sunrise do something about those horrible graphics they present us with each morning – too big and very distracting. The graphics on the Today show weather map are horrendous.

    I very rarely tune in to the Today show, hence when did Jo Lamble (Psychologist) leave Sunrise for the Today show?

  23. Wow. Just watched the first 15 mins and while I like the set it’s such a copy lol

    I guess sunrise can just think copying is the highest level of flattery

  24. Oh dear don’t think I’ve ever seen nine with an orange set they usually stick withe a blue theme. And yes, this looks more like Sunrise. It’s rather depressing to watch how these two shows steal ideas from each other and just end up being clones of each other.
