Former Spice Girl Mel B will co-host Dancing with the Stars for the Seven Network.

Former Spice Girl Mel B will co-host Dancing with the Stars for the Seven Network.

The X Factor judge, understood to be spending more time with family relocated to Australia, has beaten local competition including rumoured names Fifi Box and Natalie Bassingthwaighte for the role.

Mel B impressed with her candour on last year’s X Factor, a quality that Sonia Kruger also brought to the show.

She also competed in the US version of the show.

  1. Fantastic choice. Love Mel B and this will only add to the show. I love it when an aussie gets a gig overseas so whe should be graceful when the reverse is done. It won’t be long before we will be calling her aussie Mel.

  2. I dont mind the choice. Fifi already does a lot with radio and sunrise and Nat I dont htink would work even though she did do SYTYCD. Mel B was great on X Factor and I like her hunour and she doesnt holds back. I think she will put Todd back in his place as well.

  3. Great move! Seven does risk over exposing one of their stars though. She mad X Factor a hit last year, has done dwts in the US where she wasn’t afraid to give it back to the judges. Looking forward to it

  4. Mel B is hilarious and was such a breath of fresh air on the judging panel of X factor last year. I reckon this is a winner and I may now actually watch DWTS this year for the first time in years.

  5. From what David has written….this young woman seems to have an attachment to Oz…..
I only know her from the weight loss ads….and I actually find her totally charming!

  6. Meltdown B – Cannot understand producers in Australia choosing non Australian ‘judges’ ‘hosts’ – have we not got enough talent in Australia, ones who’d be dying for a job – her voice and accent is just horrible – when we have a local show being produced by Australians for Australians, we want to hear our accent not an American or UK accent! Sorry! Not watching XF or DWTS –

  7. Why use an overseas “personality” at the end of their careers, when we have many hear who are equal in “talent”.

My vote would be for Daryl Somers to slip on Sonia’s frocks.

  8. Its probably just a ploy to keep her on for the next round of X Factor and not head back home to UK. I get so sick of the saturation of hosts/judges or ‘personalities’ as they are called. There is too much cross over on shows these days.
But good thing NatBass didn’t get the role, he high pitched shouting makes my ears bleed.

  9. So it’s official.

Using overseas “celebrities”, proves Australia has no talent left to offer.
While I am a fan of Mel B, I don’t agree with this choice.

  10. Don’t agree about NatBass – she has a dreadfully high pitched voice, specially when she gets a bit excited. Lovely girl though. Dunno about MelB either, I have difficulty in understanding her accent. But good luck to her.

  11. Well, that decision makes me a former viewer of DWTS. I can’t cope with her accent, so I won’t be watching. Is Seven honestly saying there was no Australian applicant who could do this job?????
