Big Brother has announced its hunt for housemates for the 2012 reboot on Nine and revealed a new "eye" logo.

Big Brother has announced its hunt for housemates for the 2012 reboot and revealed a new “eye” logo.

The show is returning to Nine later this year after several years off screen. To apply you must be 18 years old and an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident. There is no upper age limit.

To apply you will need to answer such questions as:

Why do you want to be on Big Brother?

Sell yourself in 25-30 Words?

Have you previously applied/appeared on TV?

If so which shows? Is there anything else you need to tell us?

The original line about Big Brother: Secrets is now either off the table or under the radar.

You must also “promise that I will not make any statement or give any interview about Big Brother to any form of media outlet (including about my participation in the selection process) without the Producer’s prior written consent, regardless of whether or not I am chosen as a participant in Big Brother.” It’s standard across all Reality shows these days.

Amongst the FAQs the show is accepting previous BB applicants. It also notes that as the format dictates the Housemates do not know each other, “if you become ‘besties’ with someone in the line/audition and you both make the latter stages it could compromise your chances of becoming a Housemate.”

“We are looking for people who have warmth, intelligence, humour and no agenda,” says executive producer, Alex Mavroidakis. “It‟s the man on the street – the girl next door.”
“If you look at the most loved people on Big Brother – Chrissie Swan, Reggie, Fitzy, Sara-Marie – they all have one thing in common; they just put it all on the line and were embraced by the nation.”

Host Sonia Kruger adds: “Big Brother 2012 is a return to all that is good about the format – a mix of big event television, totally watchable Australians, engaging conversation and most importantly, humour.

BB 2012 will focus on what made the show most successful – people we simply love to watch.”

“The Housemate Hunt is a vital part of our process and will allow you to come to us and let us know why you would make the perfect Housemate,” adds executive producer, Alex Mavroidakis.
“A final word of advice: Do not try to second guess what we are looking for. The truth is, there is no Big Brother type. Be yourself, be engaging and you might just win us – and Australia – over.”

  1. ”Its the man on the street”‘. If the executive producer gets the average man on the street, then the show may have a chance. If they go heavy on the Ken and Barbie types, the plastic people who only go on the show for fame and to get into tv, then it will fail. You are right when you mention Reggie, Sarah Marie and Chrissie swan. IReal people who the average viewer can relate to.

  2. That’s right clofts, it has to be an adult show. Many of the statements made about the show have given people the impression that Nine’s Big Brother will be a toned down, family friendly version. I certainly hope that all Nine are saying is that they are not going to go down the 2005 route of making the show as sexed up as possible. It’s still vital that they have an Uncut type show, because without that adult element it really feels as though you are missing out on half the picture. Nine need to recognise that Uncut was also the aspect of the program that really resonated with the young adult demographic. And they will definitely need Uncut to draw those people back to watching the show. I hope that they have enough sense to realise this.

  3. The eye is ok but looks very different, i am scared if they change too much the magic and hype that draws people in will be lost.

They better keep the theme music, if this gets changed it wont have the magic

  4. It looks as if the graphics dept from the Today show have come up with the new logo. Awful

I bet the producers of Today Tonight are salivating at the up coming opportunity to trash Nine’s attempt at every chance possible.

  5. First i don’t think thats really going to be the actual realistic eye theme logo of Big brother australia. I’m sure they can come up similar as euthentic preview times. This logo and colour background just simply doesn’t look realistic enough. Now unless channel 9 are a cheap ends meet they see this as profetional. Scratches my head.

I believe this eye them logo of big brother picture is only just basic. Remember that before big brother did apear in australia in 2001 there was an interview tv about a (posible reality tv show called: big brother) they had a very basic theme eye logo just like this. It was just a presentation what it could be. By the time you new it.. that basic theme logo eye was nothing like when big brother show began on the opening first night ever. It was all visual effects themes camera movements logos..

So don’t bring too much hope that this basic logo is going to really look like that. But i will be suprise if they did.. after all they living in the 90s with technology in thier hands. Just saying.

My bet is its going to be much much better logo for it. Plus i believe they will re-use the theme big brother song entrence just like the 2001.

  6. As long as they make it into an adult show.. its no point having adults on the show who will be talking and doing “adult things” and then cut it all out and try to make it into a kids show..

  7. I hope that Uplate and Uncut are back, they were the only shows I used to watch, I also hope they get Bree and Fitzy back as well, anyone know if Mike will be the voice over or have anything to do with the show? I feel he needs to be an important part if this is going to be successful.

  8. “Host Sonia Kruger adds: “Big Brother 2012 is a return to all that is good about the format ” <i hope this is true because once they brought in the sleaze factor it just got worse every year from then on, the last really good one was 2003, all the housemates were interesting in some way. The last one, ugh dont get me started, not just sleaze, but bogans too lol

  9. What a horrible looking logo the Nine network has come up with. It looks cheap and tacky. Something tells me Nine are trying to do this on the cheap side. I am looking forward to this but Nine are notorious for screwing up shows.

  10. I used to watch the up late segments of BB back in the day when Ch 10 was cool. But I just find it hard to imagine that Nine can pull this off. It goes to show how desperate a network can get that they take such a massive risk like this.
