Big Bang bluff?
Is Nine really going to play a new Big Bang Theory in Easter non-ratings?

Should I really believe Channel Nine?
They reckon they are going to screen a new episode of The Big Bang Theory on Easter Monday, the one which guest stars the voice of Leonard Nimoy in a dream sequence.
I realise Nine is probably looking to make room for all those Reality shows that are coming, but to play a first run episode that could pull 1.3m viewers in Easter non-ratings is, as Spock would say, “highly illogical.”
As evidence, Nine has a replay scheduled next Monday night at 8pm, also in non-ratings.
So do we really think this one will go ahead or get yanked?

Will just be there long enough to get in all the printed guides, then they’ll switch it out.
It should be on this Monday, it’s not school holidays yet (in NSW at least), and there will be even less people watching on Easter Monday.
But that doesn’t answer the question as to why they don’t have thing new ep fast tracked next Monday so it’s a ratings week right?
As for hiatus and holiday break we shouldn’t complain, the US has sweeps weeks where they show the best shows. On network TV they will often have 2 months of new eps followed by a month off for no other reason then it’s a non ratings period but they do have to make 22 ep last a whole year. And I guess that the down side to fast tracking, otherwise Nine and the others would show them in one batch over 22 weeks then go to another show for the rest of the year.
Why not put it to air?
It’s not as if Nine are going to win the week anyway! Ratings period or non ratings period…
@ Josh777 Really…?
Non-ratings periods are obviously there because networks cannot make a profit airing original shows during those weeks, because fewer people are watching. Over Christmas holidays, many people spend more time out shopping into the wee hours of the night, and people are working to cater for those shoppers. You’ve also got more people travelling, who are camping, on the road, overseas.
Would you pay the same amount to advertise your brand to 700,000 as you would for 1.3mil viewers? Would 9 then pay full price (new episode) and make half the profit, or pay a quarter of the price and make half the profit?
9 won’t air a new episode of Big Bang Theory, simple, though I’m sure there will be no shortage of ads promoting The Block with its many “twists”. One of which will be a couple will be eliminated each week, but being an Australian reality show with four teams, it will take seven months before they announce a winner.
May indeed be correct as Seven is airing a new episode of Revenge.
Josh777, we have the big ratings gap so that Nine can repeat yet another Harry Potter movie and more repeats of Big Bang and Ten can play Devil Loves Prada for the 4752th time.
No, hang on, that was two weeks ago in the ratings period.
Oops.
Gauranteed it’s not going to air a new episode from ch9 past record of programming…..it will be yanked off.
I don’t understand why there is such a large non-ratings gap. It’s bad enough that we have the Summer non-ratings season which is filled of repeats and crap shows, let alone having rating season back on for 2 months only for a hiatus of 2 weeks. It should be ratings season all year long – except for public holidays (e.g. yes to this coming long weekend, but not to the two weeks after it).
I’ll be very surprised if it’s on, it wouldn’t be the first time they pulled a new ep at the last minute. Why don’t they show it next Monday as it aired yesterday in the US.
And FYI the following ep features Stephen Hawking’s, it airs next week in the US.
They are a bit early isn’t it? April Fools days is tomorrow!
