As if he didn’t already have enough on his plate, presenter / producer / radio host Ryan Seacrest is joining NBC’s Today show.
Seacrest, best known as American Idol presenter, told Today show’s Matt Lauer the plan “is for me to join the NBC family and continue to have a role at the E! Network. The first assignment will be to join the primetime team for the Olympics on NBC.”
The move was not unexpected.
When Lauer asked if he could see himself taking over at Today as co-anchor, Seacrest responded: “I don’t know. I see YOU doing this for as long as you want to. So the question is: how long will YOU be on the Today show?”
Seacrest’s Idol contract ends after Season 11 but he plans to stay on as host.
He also co-hosts E! News alongside Giuliana Rancic, and also oversees Ryan Seacrest Productions, which produces the Kardashian reality shows and Bravo’s Shahs of Sunset.
Seacrest out…

I’ll be the first to admit i am wrong. Lauer has just signed a massive deal with Today.
Well the worst kept secret is out of the bag. I must say he is probably one of the best talents on US TV. Love him or hate him its a great move. American Idol is on the decline so i guess if he is getting out he is doing it at the right time. I see 1 possibly 2 more seasons of Idol to be honest with you. Even though he wants to do Idol rumour has it Matt Lauer is leaving after the Olympics. If there is any truth to that then Seacrest will probably slot right in and leave Idol. I can’t see him on 2 broadcast nets.
David, Do you know the ratings between NBC Today, ABC Good Morning America and CBS This Morning? This week only as Oprah is co-hosting This Morning and Katie Couric is Co-Hosting GMA.
@deedeedragons LOL
Try TVByTheNumbers for US ratings.
This is great. Cause’ when i think of sport, i think of Ryan Seacrest.
Ryan seacrest does a great job of reading the auto cue on Idol. He should, he has been doing it for 11 years.
American Idol is slick, well made and has produced some great talent. This year, for anyone with Foxtel, has a great line up.
