Decision time on Dumb, Drunk & Racist

Four visitors are quizzed on their positions but first there's a B&S ball to attend in Meandarra.

This week on Dumb, Drunk & Racist the four visiting Indians are asked for their verdict.

There’s a bbq discussion about whether we are or aren’t any of the above, and the conclusions certainly put a little perspective on things.

But first the episode tackles our nation’s love affair with alcohol consumption via a B&S Ball in Meandarra – and it’s not pretty.

After a three-week road trip, the Indians’ Australian odyssey is nearly at an end. But before they reveal their views on Australia, they take a look at our drinking culture…

Australians drink more than just about any other country on earth; we also love our cricket. Joe introduces the Indians to a grand tradition – a beer at the cricket.

The crew then embark on a club crawl in Surfers Paradise, and experience Aussie binge drinking culture up close. Binge drinking is one of the major health problems affecting young Australians and it’s the police and hospital emergency departments that are on the frontline. Joe takes Amer and Radhika to St Vincent’s, where Dr Gordian Fulde reveals that a single drunken punch can destroy a life.

From the city, the Indians then head to the bush to experience a country pub. Wrapping up the drinking tour, Joe takes everyone to the Meandarra B&S Ball, a romantic rite of passage where alcohol plays a vital role.

Finally, after meeting and experiencing many different parts of the Australian culture, Gurmeet, Radhika, Amer and Mahima deliver their verdict. How have their opinions changed? Do they still believe Australians are indeed dumb, drunk and racist?

9:30pm Wednesday ABC2.

  1. Ive tried hard to be open and fair about this show but,i couldnt get my head around what its true purpose was.Its been poorly planned and executed and its message often confused and muddled. This show could’ve made an impact but it didnt quite hit the spot.Who knows,by the end of this next episode i might be enlightened and finally get it.Look forward to seeing what the visitors verdict is.
