An Open Letter to TV FIX

Next time one of my interviews is so newsworthy it is worth re-reporting, how about acknowledging the source?

Dear TV FIX

It’s wonderful that you are reading my website and finding my stories of great interest.

But next time you decide one of my interviews is so newsworthy it is worth re-reporting, how about acknowledging the source?

A Howzat interview appears in edited form on your website without any attribution. The byline by writer Rebecca Isaacs completely overlooks that I went to the set to watch filming and interviewed cast.

That’s what I do for my readers.

TV FIX on the other hand files next to no TV news (most of which is lifted from the US), let alone breaks any TV scoops. This is despite the voluminous traffic you have, and the entire backing of NineMSN -I am a team of 1.

I have no problem with aggregating of my content so long as sites follow online practice of:
a) acknowledge source with an active link.
b) never take 100% of story.
c) re-write and embellish with your own perspective.

This is how I conduct aggregation so that readers always have the option of going back to the story for more of the story. Win / win.

To lift these quotes and re-package as your own story is sloppy, bordering on plagiarism.

Kindly provide an active link immediately and to all content aggregated from this site.

Regards,
David Knox

  1. Btw..I did post a comment on their site suggesting I was sure I had read the same piece on TV Tonight a few days before and where was the attribution to David Knox. No surprise it wasn’t published.

  2. Low-life bastards. David, you are being too kind. This wasn’t anywhere near the border of Plagiarism – that would be if they stole your work but paraphrased and acknowledged it. No, this is well within the borders, somewhere on the outskirts of the capital city of Plagiarism.

  3. I’m sure I’ve read this before somewhere 🙂

Let us know how many hours/days/weeks it takes for TV Fix to even respond, let alone do as you asked. Arrogant lot, aren’t they?

  4. Never heard of them….and it really annoys me…as you…David …put sooo much effort…single handedly….into making this The Best Australian Blog….for which you were suitably awarded….
Respect people…and an immediate apology would also be in order!

  5. Well said David. Plagiarism is a soft person’s cheat.

Whilst dealing with property rights…I would welcome urging Network 9 to please attend to the UK people flooding the Official Aussie BB site with pirated video links. These people are ripping Aussie and UK BB and putting them up online before the Networks do. They are constantly promoting US live feeds, UK show and now Brazil. They’ve done it for two days now. When will 9 moderators remove these pirated links and actually protect their own property!

  6. Agree with you 100% on this David.Being kinda new to the forums here I’m amazed that you put all this out by yourself…and a simple attribution to you would have been the least they ought to have done.

  7. Haha. David before I found your site I used TV FIX. But at the start of the year, they reduced their news stories and for about 3 weeks the only new news, pictures, galleries were on The Voice.

Your site has a much better range and I like your TV updates (which is necessary to keep up with series in Aust.)

  8. I hate that website, they are so obviously pro-Nine in all their articles and their actual content (or “news”) is 99% garbage. Mostly crap on the Kardashians or US Gossip crap with no substance.

I’m not surprised they’d try and steal content from a superior website
