Move over The Block?

Seven is getting into the Home Renovation genre, now calling for contestants for an unnamed new show.

“Regular Aussies” who own their own home as their primary place of residence are sought for the series. Previous home renovation experience isn’t compulsory, just a passion and flair for home improvement.

Teams of two, comprising a partner, a relative or close friends are eligible, and all must be over the age of 18.

Seven says of the show, “Contestants will put their homes on the line and their skills to the test in a fight for renovation supremacy and a life-changing prize!”

Applications are open until September 7 at yahoo7.com.au/sevencasting

  1. Seven do reality very, very well, so if they’ve hit on a format that differentiates them sufficiently from The Block, this should do OK for them.

  2. @ MuchoTB, you’ve got it all wrong.

Seven was first with My Restaurant Rules in 2004. Ten came out with Masterchef in 2009, Seven then changed it from Restaurant to Kitchen.

So if you look at the sequence of events, Seven was first.

  3. Seven copied Ten’s Masterchef with My Kitchen Rules – and now that is one of their flagship shows, often rating near 2 million every episode.

If Seven pull this off right it could be a massive hit. I won’t be interested though, I hate these renovation shows

  4. After Ten’s attempts with the woeful ‘The Renovators’ . may I suggest to Seven that to be as successful as ‘The Block’ , all they need is to hire a bunch of blonde yuppies who whine and bitch a lot.

And if they don’t know their monkey wrenches from their hammers – the better.

All the renovating is done by contractors anyway.
