  1. Secret Squirrel

I thought that The Big Race might’ve cracked 1.5 mil given how well the Top Ten Shootout rated yesterday but the numbers were only slightly better than last year. Still decent for an average over 7½ hours.

It’s funny how Seven keeps coding the podium separately but, contrary to other “winner announced bits” it actually rates lower than the race itself. I guess we know who the winner is when he crosses the line first. Perhaps Seven should code the last lap separately to gain that artificial bump?

  2. I think it is interesting that the Julian Assange movie existed pretty much in a void for Channel Ten.

None of their programming before or after on the night seems to have received a boost – it is particularly notable that people switched off immediately afterwards (though it was well after 10:30pm on a night before work/school.)

It will be interesting to see if the heavy advertising for other shows during the movie has any impact on the rest of the week.

  3. bettestreep2008

Didn’t expect to see Ahn on top. I can’t stand the guy and just enjoyed a repeat of MF and the much too short special on Julian Assange before the very interesting – and much too short – Underground movie.

I wanted more of Hamish McDonald’s special – 22 minutes was woefully short and the telemovie should really have been a 2 or 3 part mini series. So much of this interesting man’s story to be told.

Well done Ten on finally getting a show over 1m. Am likely to watch Homeland – just because that brilliant song they use on the promos. Does anyone know where one can get this haunting tune?

  4. Seven should fastrack Season 8 of Bones and move Killing Time to 9:30pm and also move Strike Back to 7mate. Really enjoyed Anh Does Vietnam last night but I didn’t think it would do as well as it did. It could end up being the top show of the week.

  5. jezza the first original one

@ JB…why fast track anything only 1 show in the top 15 was produced overseas. Folks want either live sport, news or locally produced shows. They are better for the networks as they can not be acquired in advance by other means. Ditch the US imports I say and pump the money into local “quality” productions

  6. 1.6m for Ahn Does Vietnam, where the hell did that come from?

Well done Ten. Underground was great and deserves the numbers. Was still 5 minutes late and the EPG wasn’t updated. Looks like Ten’s Sunday lineup will be a winner cos Killing Time started poorly. Why don’t Seven fast track Downton Abbey, or Bones & Castle?? Ratings season is still on.
