Airdate: Derren Brown: The Heist

Illusionist Derren Brown's special on SBS involves ordinary men and women stealing loot.

Tomorrow night on SBS ONE, illusionist Derren Brown presents his special, Derren Brown: The Heist, involving ordinary men and women stealing loot.

Derren demonstrates his unique and almost uncanny ability to misdirect, manipulate and mesmerise. These elements are combined with tested psychological experiments to take a deeper look at human behaviour and reaction, and show how easily behaviours can be manipulated.

Under the guise of a motivational seminar and a follow-up documentary, Derren attempts to persuade a group of responsible, middle-management businessmen and women to steal $150,000 in an armed robbery. Such is the premise for one of his most ambitious and challenging specials to date.

Derren demonstrates his masterful skills in persuasion as he shows how little it takes for these people to cross into deviant behaviour.

Monday, 12 November at 8.30pm on SBS ONE.

  1. I think Derren Brown’s latest series is average. It’s still better than his low point when his predicting the lottery trick was done with artificial camera shake effect and split screen. The quality of Derren’s work is hampered by his own desire for quick monetary gain. Otherwise, he is quite talented.
