Did somebody say Damages has ended?

Oops. I completely overlooked that fact that one of my favourite dramas was taking its exit.

I’m really sorry.

I didn’t get to blog about Damages having its last ever episode on air last week on Foxtel. Because I was watching on DVD preview, and not Live, I had completely overlooked that fact that one of my favourite dramas was taking its exit. I didn’t even get to file it as the Daily Pick.

But I’ve now seen the episode and have seen how they resolved the rivalry between Patti Hewes and Ellen Parsons. It wasn’t quite the ending I expected, but no arguments that it was a fitting finish.

This season wasn’t exactly one of the best but I was always happy watching Glenn Close and Rose Byrne going toe to toe.

Earlier seasons with Tate Donovan, Ted Danson, William Hurt and Timothy Olyphant were particularly malevolent. The labyrinthine plot structures may have been dense, but they paid off in droves.

I’d say it’s going to be a long time before Glenn Close does another series drama.

  1. “Damages” was great TV and really should be included in the series that generally form the roll call of what is seen as the new Golden Age of Television (ie Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Sopranos, 6 Feet under,Homeland etc) but it isnt even discussed with the lesser fine series (Boardwalk,Thrones)-I never have understood why as it is cleverly structured and superbly written and acted. Yes series 1-3 were the best, I havent seen 5, but 4 was very disappointing and lacked the compelling plot that drove the other three.

  2. No need to be sorry, it can happen:) I loved this show, and will truly miss it. I too was pretty happy with the ending and yes it was fitting. No complaints from me.

  3. I watched this a few months ago, was a great finale! A few unexpected turns in the end.

Will miss this show, it always kept you on the edge of your seat. IMO season three was the best season with the Tobin ponzi scheme and the plot surrounding Tom Shayes
